Is there a way to actually share my Amazon cart with someone else without having to manually recreate everything in a separate wishlist? I am trying to organize this big camping trip for me and my buddy Dave for late October up in the Olympic Peninsula and I have like 17 items sitting in my cart right now. We are looking at a $600 budget total for stuff we need but I dont want to buy it all myself and then have him Venmo me because my credit card limit is kinda low right now and also what if he hates the specific brands I picked out?
I tried looking this up and saw some people talking about this browser extension called Share-a-Cart but honestly it feels a bit sketchy giving a third-party app access to my shopping data like that? Plus Dave is super tech-illiterate and probably wouldnt even know how to install an extension if his life depended on it lol. I also read about just making a Wish List or a Wedding Registry but that seems like a massive pain in the neck to move every single item one by one from the cart into a list and then make him add them back to his own cart... like there has to be a Send Cart button somewhere that I am just missing?
We are on a bit of a tight timeline because some of the stuff says it has 2-week shipping and I really need him to look at the prices and the specs before we pull the trigger on the expensive stuff. Here is some of what I have sitting in there right now:
- Teton Sports sleeping pads
- Jetboil Flash cooking system
- A bunch of Mountain House meals
- Water filtration tablets
- Waterproof dry bags
Every time I try to just screenshot the cart it cuts off half the items or doesnt show the total with tax and it is driving me crazy. Is there like a hidden feature in the app or a link I can just copy-paste to him? Or maybe a way to make a shared cart that we both can edit in real-time? I just want him to be able to click buy on his end once we agree on everything...

I have been using it for years for my backcountry trips and it is a total game changer. Since you already have the Teton pads and that sweet Jetboil Flash in your cart, just hit the move to list button on each one. It feels like a chore but it really only takes a minute or two, I promise! Once the list is made, you just hit the invite button and Dave can see everything on his own screen. No sketchy extensions needed! He can even click add all to cart on his end so you dont have to deal with Venmo drama or trying to explain specs over blurry screenshots. You guys are gonna have the most amazing time in the Olympic Peninsula... that area is literally magic in the fall!

Honestly its kinda ridiculous that after all these years Amazon still doesnt have a built-in button to just send your cart to someone. Ive been using the platform for a decade and it has always been this annoying hurdle for group planning. Unfortunately, there is no hidden link or magic toggle in the app that you are missing. Your shopping cart is technically tied to your specific login session and browser cookies, which is why when you try to copy the URL, Dave will just see his own empty cart. I had high hopes they would add a collaboration mode like Google Docs has, but they just wont do it. The closest official thing is the Household account feature, but thats meant for families living together and is way too much of a security headache just for a camping trip. If you really want to avoid extensions because Dave is tech-challenged, you are basically stuck between manual lists or sharing your login, which I definitely dont recommend for safety reasons. Finding a simple way to send your basket usually requires those third-party tools because Amazon wants every user to have their own separate data silos for tracking and marketing. Its super frustrating when you just want to coordinate gear. TL;DR: Amazon has zero native features to share a live cart link due to how their account security is structured. You basically have to use a 3rd party extension or just suck it up and use the Wish List tool.
