How do I share my Walmart shopping cart with a friend?

Okay so i feel really stupid even asking this because everyone seems to just know how to use apps these days but im totally lost. My friend Sarah and I are finally going on that camping trip to the Great Smoky Mountains next Friday and we have a really tight budget of like $200 for all our food and basic gear since we are trying to save money. I started putting stuff in my cart on the Walmart app like some hot dogs, those little portable propane tanks, and some sleeping pads but now i need her to look at it and see if i missed anything or if she thinks we should get the cheaper brand of stuff.

My logic was that there would just be a little button that says share or send cart to friend or something like that but i have been clicking around for like twenty minutes and i cant find anything that looks like that. I even tried to just copy the website address at the top and text it to her but when she opened it her cart was just empty so i guess that doesnt work because its my private account? I really dont want to have to give her my password because that feels unsafe even though shes my best friend but i also dont want to just take a bunch of screenshots of every single item because that would take forever and then she has to go find them all herself and put them in her own cart and we might end up buying two of the same thing which would be a disaster for our budget.

Is there like a special link i can generate? Or maybe a way to make the cart public? Im so worried im gonna mess this up and we will end up in the mountains without any actual food or something. Sorry if this is such a basic thing i just really have no idea what im doing with this app and i feel like a total dinosaur. how do people usually do this without losing their minds...

^ This. Also, I actually disagree that Walmart is just behind on this... it is usually a conscious security choice. Letting people share live carts creates huge privacy risks for your saved payment methods and address, which is probably why they keep it locked down to your private login. Honestly, giving your password away is never a good idea, even with a best friend. It is just bad practice imo. If you want a solid technical workaround, the best way is to use the List feature instead of the actual cart. You can create a new list called Camping Trip, add all those hot dogs and sleeping pads to it, and then hit the share icon on the list page. It generates a specific URL that actually works for other people. It is more reliable than just copying the cart link which, like you found out, is session-based and wont work for her. Another decent option if you are on a desktop is Easy Cart Share for Walmart. I have used it a few times for group events and it just exports the whole Walmart cart in one go so the other person can see everything without needing your account. It is pretty straightforward and saves a lot of time compared to screenshots. Just be careful to coordinate who is actually hitting the buy button so you dont blow that $200 budget by accident. Hope you guys have fun in the Smokies, ngl I am a bit jealous of the trip tho.

  • Honestly, I have the exact same problem every single time I plan a group trip and it is beyond frustrating.
  • Been dealing with this for years and still havent found a native button that actually works.
  • Has anyone here tried Easy Cart Share for Walmart yet or is it just another dead end?
  • Quick question tho - are you using the iOS or Android version of the app?

Look, honestly, it is super frustrating that Walmart still hasn't fixed this basic feature. You would think a massive company would have a simple share button by now, but unfortunately, they dont make it easy. I have been using the app for years and it is still way behind. If you are trying to stick to that $200 budget for the Smokies, you definitely do not want to double up on gear or waste money. Here is how I usually deal with this mess:

  • Create a Registry or List instead of using the cart. You can share that link and she can see the items.
  • Try using Share-A-Cart since it is an extension specifically for this. It is way better than the native app.
  • Stick to Great Value brands for your snacks and gear to keep costs down. It is not ideal and it is annoying to jump through hoops, but those are basically your only options.
