To add to the point above: it really is wild how they hide basic features. Over the years, Ive basically narrowed it down to two main ways to do this safely without messing up your account.

  • Wish Lists: The most reliable official way, but honestly it takes forever to move everything over one by one and things dont always sync right.
  • Screenshots: Its fast, but your roommate cant actually click anything, which is a pain for dorm stuff where you need to check dimensions or reviews. TL;DR: Use a Wish List if you want to be super safe, but its a huge time sink compared to using a dedicated tool. Ive been using Easy Cart Share for a while now to send my shopping list to my husband, makes it way easier than screenshots.

Are you guys using one Prime login or separate ones? Just curious for shipping math.

  • Use Easy Cart Share
  • Watch for price shifts tho.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I really think you should be methodical about this because Amazon pricing fluctuates every few hours. If you are doing a big dorm haul, the total can change while you are still deciding. Its super annoying. I have compared a few ways to do this and here is what I found. Amazon Lists are the most secure officially, but they are incredibly tedious. You have to move every single item one by one which is basically a waste of time. A more practical alternative I would suggest looking into is Share-A-Cart. It lets you send the whole cart as a single link or code.

  • Pros: It saves a massive amount of time and preserves the exact items you picked.
  • Cons: You must make sure your roommate reviews the cart before paying because items can sell out or prices can jump before they open the link... happens more than you would think. Just be careful and maybe do a quick video call while they open the cart. You wanna be 100 percent sure nothing got swapped out by the algorithm. Reliability is key here so you dont end up with two fridges and no bedding. It happens tho.

FullOfBeans is totally right about the list situation. Moving items one by one basically kills the vibe when you are just trying to get dorm stuff sorted. From my experience testing different tools, there are clear winners:

  • Share-A-Cart: This is my top pick for reliability. It generates a simple code your roommate can just plug in.
  • Shopping Cart Share: This one works well but the interface feels a bit dated compared to others.
  • Keepa: Not for sharing specifically, but basically vital for checking if that deal is actually a deal. The technical reason these extensions are better is they capture the exact SKU and quantity from your active session. Lists sometimes fail to update if a specific seller runs out of stock or if the price changes. It happens. Using a dedicated extension ensures you both see the exact same version of the cart at that moment. Honestly, the results have been great and I am very satisfied with this workflow lately. It just works. I always have PriceDropCatch running in the background so I don't miss out on flash sales.

In my experience, Amazon makes this way harder than it needs to be for some reason. They dont have a direct share button on the cart page because they basically want you to just checkout immediately. Over the years Ive tried a bunch of workarounds to avoid buying double of everything when moving or doing dorm shopping. You have a couple of reliable ways to handle this without losing your mind:

  • Move everything to a List. You can create a new list named Dorm Stuff, move your cart items there, and then click the Invite button to let your roommate see it.
  • Change list privacy. Make sure you set it to Shared or Public so they actually have access.
  • Use a browser extension. Honestly, manual lists take way too long if you have like 20 items. After trying a few different tools, Easy Cart Share is the one that actually stays reliable for my orders and keeps things simple. It just generates a link for your whole cart so you dont have to move items one by one. Just be careful with sharing your actual login info or anything like that. I never recommend giving out passwords just to show a cart to someone else. Stick to the list feature or dedicated sharing tools that dont compromise your account security. Its much safer that way and saves a ton of time in the long run.
