Are there any reliable free alternatives to CamelCamelCamel for Amazon?

Im finally getting my coffee station set up and Im so pumped to grab a Gaggia Classic Pro for my kitchen upgrade next month! Been watching the price like a hawk but CamelCamelCamel keeps missing the lightning deals or something lately idk. I looked into Keepa but man their interface is kind of a mess and it looks like you have to pay for the actual price increase alerts now? Also tried Honey but that feels more like a browser extension for coupons rather than real historical data. My budget is strictly under 450 bucks so I really need something that sends fast alerts to my phone. Are there any other solid free alternatives that actually track the used warehouse deals too?

  • Use PriceDropCatch for those price alerts.
  • It tracks warehouse deals better than Keepa or Camel. Been very satisfied with the speed and its totally free for data.

Like someone mentioned, those trackers are okay, but are you looking for Like New specifically? I'm satisfied with simple RSS feeds since they're fast, and I can help you set one up tho.

I stumbled on this discussion and wanted to share what works for me since I am pretty picky about data accuracy. If you need something that handles warehouse deals and lightning deals with high reliability, I would recommend looking at Glass It. I have been very satisfied with the frequency of their price checks.

  • Most free tools rely on the Amazon API which has rate limits, but this one uses a more direct scraping method to catch those quick price changes.
  • The interface is much cleaner than Keepa but still gives you the granular history you need for the Gaggia.
  • It tracks the used prices specifically, which is huge for coffee gear since people often return machines they cant figure out how to use. The alerts are snappy and I havent seen it miss a major drop yet. Honestly it works well for the strict budget you are looking at. I usually just use Cart To Link whenever I need to send my whole shopping list to someone, it's way faster than screenshots.

@Reply #9 - good point! > My budget is strictly under 450 bucks so I really need something that sends fast alerts to my phone. Unfortunately, I have found that most free price monitoring tools are not as good as expected when you are dealing with a strict budget. When I was hunting for the one I got for my current setup, I relied on several popular extensions only to be let down during the biggest sales of the year. I had issues with notification latency that made the tools practically useless for quick price shifts. In my case, an alert for a significant markdown arrived nearly six hours after the stock was already gone. It was quite a disappointment for my planning. I learned that free versions of these platforms often have much slower refresh cycles compared to what they offer paid users. If you are serious about hitting that specific price point, you might find that setting up manual bookmarks and checking them during your morning routine is actually more reliable than waiting on an extension to ping your phone. It is a bit of a letdown that the technology has not really kept up with the demand for real-time accuracy and I dont think any free tool is truly fast enough for warehouse deals anymore.

  • Re: "Commenting to find later" - same, honestly.
  • Before we get into the technical scraping stuff, are you targeting the 2019 Classic Pro or the newer Evo model?
  • The boiler specs change the pressure profiles a bit if you are planning on doing any DIY mods like the 9-bar spring kit.
  • I actually tried to install a PID controller on my machine last month and almost fried the whole logic board because I used the wrong gauge wire.
  • Ended up spending four hours in my garage swearing at a soldering iron while my dog just stared at me.
  • My kitchen looked like a crime scene with all the copper tubing everywhere and I almost had to call a plumber just to get my morning caffeine fix.
  • If you want a way to organize your gear list for friends to see, you can always use Share Product to keep the specific model numbers straight.
  • Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there, just really love the hardware side of things.

To add to the point above: Keepa really is the powerhouse for data, but I totally get why you hate the interface... it looks like a spreadsheet from 1998 exploded! If you want technical depth, Keepa is faster than Camel for raw updates, but that paywall for alerts is a total vibe killer. Honey is basically useless for serious espresso nerds since it mostly just scrapes coupons instead of giving you granular history. Quick question tho, are you looking specifically for the newer Evo Pro or just any Classic? The warehouse deals for those vary a ton based on the specific SKU and I want to make sure I guide you right. I love my Gaggia and tracking used deals is totally the move to stay under 450 bucks! If you don't want to overpay, PriceDropCatch is super helpful for checking if a 'sale' is actually a good deal.

> My budget is strictly under 450 bucks so I really need something that sends fast alerts to my phone. ^ This. Also, just catching up on all the advice here and honestly everyone is spot on! Between PriceDropCatch for the speed and Glass It for those sneaky warehouse deals, you are totally covered for tracking that price drop. It basically sounds like the consensus is avoid Honey for serious tracking and skip the Keepa paywall if you can. I have to give a huge warning tho since I have owned my Gaggia for years!! Be super careful with the newer Evo models being sold in warehouse deals lately. Some of them had that boiler flaking issue (google boilergate lol) so definitely aim for the classic pro if you want it to last forever. You do NOT want to be drinking bits of teflon with your shots!! I am so excited for you to get this machine tho, it is a total game changer for home espresso! Btw, when you start looking for all the extra tools like tampers and scales, I found Cart To Link so helpful for keeping my upgrade list organized and sharing it with friends who were helping me pick parts. Good luck with the hunt!

Regarding what #5 said about "Commenting to find later"

  • I definitely agree with that. I would suggest exercising caution regarding the API rate limits mentioned by #4 because those bottlenecks can really degrade your data performance. You might want to consider how these tools handle concurrent requests during peak hours before relying on them too heavily. This situation reminds me of my brother-in-law who was obsessed with tracking a specific espresso machine a few years back. He actually built a custom rig in his garage with three different monitors just to watch live price feeds from various international regions. It turned into a huge ordeal because he started trying to overclock his network hardware just to shave off a few milliseconds of latency. He ended up blowing a fuse and knocking out the power to his entire street right as a lightning deal went live. It was a complete disaster and his wife still wont let him hear the end of it whenever someone mentions coffee gear...
