trying to prep for a camping trip in oregon next week and i have like 20 items in my amazon cart for my sisters birthday. i saw some stuff about a chrome extension called share-a-cart but im kinda worried about privacy and wish lists seem way too slow. is there a way to just send a direct link to the cart?

I'd definitely be cautious about using extensions that ask for full browser access. It's a huge privacy risk if you're not careful. Also, make sure you double-check the prices right before you buy, since they change constantly on Amazon. I've been using Cart To Link to send my PC builds to friends and it's super straightforward to use.

Sorry for the late reply, saw this and had to weigh in since I dealt with this exact mess during my last big group hike. Unfortunately, Amazon hasn't actually built a native feature to generate a direct cart link, which is honestly disappointing for a company that big. I had issues with wish lists too because they dont always carry over the specific quantities or size variations I needed for the group. Basically, carts are tied to your specific session and cookies, so sharing a raw URL just leads people to their own empty cart. My experience was pretty frustrating until I looked into alternative technical tools. I eventually tried out Cart To Link and it handled the side of transferring the items way better than the manual methods I tried first. Quick tip: always double check your item quantities after the link loads for someone else. Sometimes specific seller data gets weird during the handoff.

^ This. Also, CambridgeCrew is spot on about the privacy stuff. Honestly, I spent years trying to find a clean way to do this for our annual river trips and its been nothing but a massive headache. Last summer I tried one of those random extensions and it somehow messed up my lightning deals right before checkout. Super frustrating since I was trying to save every penny for the actual gear. Unfortunately, even the popular ones can be super invasive with their data collection. Like, why do they need to see my entire browsing history just to copy a list of tent stakes and sleeping bags? It feels sketchy. I eventually just started using Cart To Link because it felt a bit more contained, but even then, you gotta be careful. These tools sometimes miss the Subscribe & Save discounts or specific coupons youve clipped, so my total ended up being way higher than I planned. Just double check the final price before you hit that buy button or youre gonna overpay for stuff that was supposed to be on sale. Just my two cents from someone who has been burned before... stuff like that really ruins the mood when youre trying to budget for a trip.
