Does Etsy send alerts when an item in my cart drops in price?

Does Etsy actually send out push notifications or emails when something sitting in my cart goes on sale or has a price drop? I have been using the platform for years and I am pretty familiar with how the favoriting system works to trigger those 'item you liked is on sale' emails but the cart seems like a bit of a black box for me right now. I am currently eyeing this specific vintage mahogany desk organizer for my new home office setup but the seller has it listed at 115 bucks and my strict budget for this part of the project is 80 dollars flat. I have had it sitting in my cart for about two weeks just waiting for a change. Honestly I have been checking the app manually every single morning while I am drinking my coffee but it is getting super tedious and I am worried I am gonna miss a flash sale if I am not looking at the right time. I looked through my account settings and saw the toggle for general promotions and coupons but nothing specifically mentions cart price drops like how Amazon or eBay do it. Does that feature even exist natively or am I just wasting my time checking the app constantly hoping for a miracle...

Unfortunately, Etsy is pretty bad about this. They dont have a native price-drop alert for items in your cart like eBay does. It is super frustrating honestly. To hit that 80 dollar budget for the mahogany organizer, you should:

  • Favorite the item immediately to trigger sale emails.
  • Check your 'Offers' tab in the app.
  • Watch for an abandoned cart coupon, tho it rarely covers a 35 dollar gap...

Jumping in here real quick. Unfortunately, Etsys notification system is super flaky and not as good as expected. Ive had issues with it missing price cuts before. Quick question tho, is it a big shop or just a small hobby seller?

  • Just use any browser extension from Honey
  • Stick to a reputable third-party tracker Honestly, you cant go wrong with a big brand like Honey. Its way more reliable and safe than Etsys native mess.

Honestly I feel your pain so much because I have been doing the exact same thing with a mid-century lamp for weeks now. Its stressful sitting there waiting for a notification that basically might never show up because of how glitchy the site can be. I used to think I could just rely on the app but after losing out on a custom leather bag last year I realized how unreliable the native system is. You really have to be careful because - prices can fluctuate based on the sellers individual settings without triggering a formal sale event

  • items often sell out to someone else who just happened to be looking at the right second
  • the cart interface is notorious for not updating prices in real-time unless you refresh manually I actually started using Walmart Wishlist Creator for my other home office stuff just to stay organized elsewhere but for Etsy its like the wild west. I would suggest being super cautious about waiting too long because that desk organizer sounds like a one-of-a-kind find and once its gone its gone. I am still haunted by that leather bag I missed out on just because I was waiting for a ping that never came through... it really taught me that you cant trust the internal alerts to be 100 percent reliable.

It is actually quite amazing how Etsy stays so competitive while lacking features that are standard on sites like Wayfair or Target. Those platforms have perfected the automated alert system, while Etsy remains incredibly manual and unreliable. I went through this exact process with a walnut shelving unit for my studio last year. My methodical approach involved checking the app every morning at 8am and refreshing my cart before bed. Even with all that effort, I never got a native alert when the price finally dropped. I only caught the sale by pure coincidence while I was browsing! It taught me that relying on their internal system is a recipe for disappointment. My current setup involves a dedicated browser extension that monitors everything for me. It is fantastic to finally have a reliable way to track prices without the constant manual stress!

  • Native system is vastly inferior to competitors
  • Manual tracking is inefficient and prone to failure
  • Third-party automation is a superior solution

Ive spent way too much time and money on Etsy over the years to know their notification system is basically non-existent for cart items. In my experience, if youre waiting for a native push alert to save that 35 bucks, youre gonna be waiting forever. I used to do exactly what youre doing... checking the app every morning like a ritual. It is a recipe for burnout and disappointment. One huge warning tho: watch out for those sketchy all-in-one coupon extensions. A lot of them are just bloatware that slows down your browser without actually tracking price changes accurately. Ive tried a dozen of them and most are trash. I finally started using this tool to handle the tracking because it actually works in real-time instead of relying on Etsys broken emails. TL;DR: Etsy wont alert you for cart price drops. Stop manual checking before you lose your mind and use a dedicated tracker instead.
