How can I check the price history of Amazon products?

Honestly im getting so fed up with how Amazon handles their pricing it feels like a total scam sometimes. Ive been watching this Breville espresso machine for my sisters wedding gift - the wedding is in three weeks so Im on a tight timeline - and I swear the price just bounces around every single day. One morning it was 499 then it jumped to 580 by the afternoon and now today it says its on sale for 520 but it claims the original price was 700? Like I know thats a lie.

My budget for this is strictly 500 and I feel like im playing this weird psychological game with an algorithm and losing every time. Its just so draining to keep refreshing the page hoping for a fair price. Does anyone know if there is an actual way to see what the price used to be over the last few months? I need to know if 520 is actually a good deal or if I should just wait another two days for it to drop back down or if Im just being paranoid. Is there a website or an app that tracks this stuff specifically for Amazon? I cant keep doing this manual check thing...

Just seeing this now and honestly you gotta use CamelCamelCamel for this stuff. Its totally free and shows you those exact charts youre looking for so you can see if that 700 dollar price is actually legit. I use it for basically everything because I hate feeling ripped off. Regarding the gift, just get any Breville machine. You really cant go wrong with that brand and the quality is always great. If you snag one for under 500 you are doing awesome. I usually set up price alerts so it just emails me when it hits my target. Saves so much mental energy instead of refreshing the page every hour lol. Youll be really satisfied with how it performs once its actually in the kitchen.

Jumping in here because I have had some pretty frustrating experiences with these tracking tools. Unfortunately, they are not as reliable as I expected when you are on a tight deadline.

  • I had issues with data lag where the price changed but the history graph didnt update for several hours, causing me to miss a deal.
  • Most trackers miss the clippable coupons on the product page, which might actually bring that 520 price down to your 500 target.
  • Managing the search was a headache until I used easy amazon cart sharing to show my family the actual cart prices instead of just sending links that kept changing on them. I have a couple of questions to help clarify the situation:
  • Does your 500 budget need to include tax and shipping, or is that just the base price for the machine?
  • Are you open to different colors, or does it have to be the specific one you are watching now? Sometimes the less popular colors drop in price much faster.

I just had to jump in because I went through the exact same struggle when I was hunting for my Breville Barista Express last year! It is amazing how much the data fluctuates when you actually look at the backend charts. I am usually super cautious with my money, so I took a methodical approach to ensure I wasnt getting ripped off by those fake discounts.

  • Use the CamelCamelCamel website to view the full history graph. It is fantastic for seeing the lowest price ever recorded!
  • Install the Keepa browser extension for a more technical view directly on the product page.
  • Look at the "Other Sellers" list to see if a more reliable vendor is cheaper. I tracked my machine for weeks and finally snagged it when the data showed a genuine dip. Love the feeling of winning against those algorithms! Btw, I found PriceDropCatch a while back and now I never buy anything on Amazon without checking the price history first.
