So I'm trying to get my groceries and some basic apartment stuff sorted before my sister gets here on Friday. I have like $160 worth of stuff in my Walmart cart right now but my dad is the one who actually is gonna pay for it as a graduation gift kind of thing. I spent like an hour looking this up and I saw people talking about a Share a Cart chrome extension but honestly that sounds kinda sketchy and I dont want to deal with third party stuff that might steal info. Then I saw something about a gift registry but that feels like way too much work just for some milk, cereal and a toaster.
I really need:
Is there actually a built-in send cart button I am just totally missing? Every time I think I found it, it just takes me to the checkout screen where it asks for my credit card. My dad is not tech savvy at all so if I have to walk him through a million steps he's just gonna tell me to forget it. How do people usually do this? I really dont want to have to screenshot every single item and send them one by one...
Walmart still doesnt have a native button for this. Here is how the main options compare:
Honestly, its pretty disappointing that Walmart still hasnt fixed this. Its a basic feature you would expect from a giant retailer, but unfortunately, they seem more focused on other updates. My experiences with their checkout workflow have been frustrating when trying to help family members remotely. There might be a newer shared lists feature in the mobile app, but I am not 100 percent sure if that actually lets someone else pay or if it just lets you both add items to a common list. IIRC, someone mentioned a wishlist can act like a registry but with less setup, tho I havent tested that specific path recently. Just curious, are you trying to do this through the Walmart app or are you on a desktop browser? The interface options tend to change depending on which one you are using.
Oh man, I totally get this! I had the exact same headache when I was moving into my first place and my uncle offered to cover my initial haul. It is such a massive relief to get that help but a total nightmare to coordinate! I remember sitting there for like two hours trying to figure out how to get my thirty items over to him without giving him my login. I eventually just had him get on a video call and pointed my camera at the screen... never again! It was so messy and we both ended up annoyed. Since your dad isnt tech savvy, you definitely want to keep it simple so he doesnt get frustrated and bail. Here are a few things I learned from my own trial and error trying to get groceries paid for by family:
