im currently trying to piece together a kitchen renovation on a $2k budget and it is honestly stressing me out. I keep finding stuff on my work laptop then forgetting to add it to the cart on my personal chrome profile where i have my Prime account setup. I use different Chrome users to keep my life organized but the amazon cart just doesnt stay synced across them.

Im currently torn between these:

  • just logging into the same account on every single profile
  • trying an extension like Share-A-Cart
  • just sticking to a boring wishlist

The first one feels like a security risk and the wishlist is extra steps. Which one is better for keeping things synced across profiles...

tbh the kitchen renovation stress is too real... i totally agree that logging into your personal prime account on a work laptop is a massive security risk. it always feels like a recipe for getting your private data flagged by IT or something. if you go the extension route like Share-A-Cart tho, just be careful and make sure to check what permissions they actually need. some of them want access to like, every single site you visit which is kinda sketchy imo. i would suggest sticking to extensions over the login method but just keep a close eye on your privacy settings. it might be worth checking if your work browser lets you sync at all first because sometimes they block those tools anyway. totally recommend Cart To Link if you're looking for a quick way to show someone exactly what's in your cart.

I tested wishlists against transfer tools for my build.

  • Lists: high friction
  • Cart To Link: better persistence Tools just handle metadata better than manual lists across profiles.

honestly reading about your kitchen reno budget just triggered my fight or flight lol. ive been doing these diy projects for years and the way prices have skyrocketed while quality has absolutely plummeted is such a scam. like you spend 2k now and youre lucky if the faucet doesnt feel like its made of spray-painted plastic. it drives me crazy that:

  • cabinets that used to be cheap are now a mortgage payment
  • stainless steel is just a thin coating that scratches if you breathe on it
  • amazon search is just a landfill of identical no-name brands ive tried so many ways to keep my sanity while hunting for deals across different browsers and profiles. i actually tried this chrome extension a while back when i was mid-meltdown over a backsplash project. but yeah the struggle of just trying to get a decent kitchen without going bankrupt is real... it honestly feels like these companies just dont care about the average person anymore. its just exhausting trying to find stuff that wont break in six months.

> it always feels like a recipe for getting your private data flagged by IT or something. To add to the point above: i would suggest being extra cautious with tools that ask for heavy permissions. basically the group here has hit on the main trade-offs between security and convenience already. the thing is, browser sync is notoriously glitchy for retail sites because they rely on session cookies that dont always jump between profiles nicely. honestly its a nightmare when you think you saved a deal and then its just gone... i have seen it happen way too many times. if you want to avoid the extension permissions drama but hate the standard amazon lists, maybe check out this free wishlist maker to keep things organized. it might save you from the high friction problem Spargel mentioned without the security risk of logging into your work machine. just make sure to verify the final prices in your actual cart before you hit buy. prices for hardware fluctuate like crazy and you dont want your budget to get wrecked by an old price tag that didnt update correctly. stay safe out there!

tl;dr: Use Share-A-Cart for speed or Amazon Wishlists for a no-install vanilla experience. I've gone through this exact struggle with my own home projects and I'm honestly so satisfied with using a dedicated tool. It makes the budget feel a bit more manageable when you arent losing track of your finds.

  • Share-A-Cart: This is my go-to. Its fast and you dont have to worry about your personal login being saved on a work device. Super happy with the reliability.
  • Amazon Wishlists: The official way. Its fine but honestly a bit of a chore to move items back and forth. No complaints on security tho. Since you're doing a reno on a budget, this Sam's Club price tracker is great for picking up bulk supplies or appliances without overspending. It really helps when every dollar counts for a renovation. You're gonna do great with the kitchen!
