Is there a way to share Chrome shopping lists with family members?

Ive been trying to get my head around this for the last three days because me and my wife are finally doing our kitchen renovation next month and we have different taste in like everything. Im using that built in shopping list feature in Chrome where it tracks the prices of the ovens and backsplash tiles weve been looking at. Its super handy for me but its driving me crazy that she cant see the same list on her own laptop or her phone.

I did some digging online and saw people mentioning Google Collections or whatever they call it now but half the articles say its being discontinued or merged into something else and its just really confusing. I also tried sharing a tab group but as soon as I close my browser on my work PC the whole thing just disappears for her so thats basically useless for a long term project. Were on a tight $5k budget for the appliances so I need to track these price drops in real time together.

Is there actually a way to just share the actual Chrome shopping list directly or do I have to give up and just copy paste everything into a boring old spreadsheet?

Basically you cant share the native chrome list directly right now and it honestly drove me nuts too. I went through the exact same thing when we were doing our basement remodel last spring. I thought I was being all organized with those price trackers but my partner couldnt see any of it on her end. We ended up missing a massive deal on the setup I wanted because she didnt get the notification on her phone... total disaster. In the end we just had to pivot to some other stuff:

  • A shared Keep note for the live links
  • A basic shared doc to manually log the price drops It sucks that Google makes it so hard to just share a list directly but honestly its more reliable to have a shared space you both own. That way no one gets left out of the loop when something finally goes on sale.

Are you guys looking for smart appliances or just the standard stuff? We did our kitchen last year and it was such a relief once we finally settled on things. We ended up just getting whatever appliances we could from Whirlpool and weve been really happy.

  • Try using a shared Google Keep note
  • Or maybe look into synced profiles Honestly, just go with Whirlpool, you really cant go wrong.

Like someone mentioned, the native functionality is unfortunately quite disappointing when you actually need it to perform for a big project. I tried using it for my own home upgrades and it was not as good as expected. Honestly, it kinda let me down right when I needed to pull the trigger on some expensive items. My experience taught me that the current system is basically too risky for a $5k budget:

  • The price history data isn't persistent and can just disappear during simple browser updates.
  • There is no legitimate way to share access without literally giving someone your login.
  • Syncing between different hardware is sluggish and often results in conflicting data. I personally lost all my research on the items I wanted because the list just stopped updating one day. It was a major setback and I felt very let down by the lack of reliability. I definitely learned the hard way that these built-in tools are more for casual browsing than serious coordination. You really need something more stable than what Google is offering right now.
