Is there a legit way to see if an Etsy item price has changed over time without having to manually track it yourself? I’ve been eyeing this gorgeous handmade solid walnut coffee table from a local shop out in North Carolina for about two months now. I’m moving into my new place next Friday and my furniture budget is super tight—I really need to stay under $800 for the living room center piece. Right now the table is listed at $845 but I could swear it was $790 back when I first favorited it in September. I feel like I’m losing my mind because I didn’t take a screenshot at the time and now I can't prove it to myself.
I did a bit of digging online to see if there's a tool for this. I saw some people suggesting browser extensions like Honey or CamelCamelCamel but those are basically useless for Etsy since it's all unique handmade stuff rather than mass-market products with standard SKUs. Then I read on a forum that you can sometimes use Google Cache to see an older version of the listing page. I tried that but every time I click the cached link it just redirects me to the current live page with the $845 price tag so that was a total bust.
It’s frustrating because if the seller does frequent sales or fluctuates prices based on the cost of lumber I’d be happy to wait a week or two. But if this is just the new permanent price I need to suck it up and find something else before my move-in date. I really don't want to be that person who messages the seller asking if they raised the price because that feels kinda awkward and I don't want to start a transaction on a weird foot. Is there some kind of price history site specifically for Etsy or maybe a trick within the app I don't know about? I tried looking at my 'Favorites' list to see if it showed the 'price when added' but it just updates to the current one. Am I just stuck guessing?...
I've been on Etsy forever. Honestly, tracking prices is a total pain since they dont have a native history feature. In my experience, this Chrome extension is your best bet for catching fluctuations on handmade items.
Would love to know this too

tl;dr: Etsy keeps price history hidden from buyers, so you unfortunately have to rely on external trackers. Honestly, I had issues with the manual method and some browser tools were not as good as expected. They often glitch out on custom listings. It is pretty disappointing when you are trying to be methodical with your moving expenses. I personally use PriceDropCatch because it is more reliable for monitoring specific URLs and sends alerts without needing a seller account. It feels like a safer approach than those buggy extensions that want access to all your data. Just to clarify your search, is that $800 cap inclusive of the shipping costs? Solid wood shipping can be brutal. Also, are you only looking for walnut or would you consider other hardwoods if the price dropped more significantly?
