Ive been hunting for a 70s Speedmaster lately but prices are all over the place. Im torn between just using Chrono24s tracker or paying for WatchCharts but $15 a month feels steep since my total budget is only $3k. Which one actually has better sold data for vintage stuff? I need to pull the trigger soon...
Just caught this thread. Regarding what #1 said about being careful with Chrono24 data tho, its mostly just people dreaming with high asking prices. Unfortunately, i’ve had issues with these paid trackers before too... they’re really not as good as expected for vintage stuff. WatchCharts usually misses the mark because it doesnt account for service history or if the parts are original, which basically determines the whole value of a 70s Speedy. For a $3k budget, you’re likely looking at the lower end of the market, and those automated tools often mix in low-quality listings or franken-watches into their data sets. Its frustrating and honestly kinda risky to trust those graphs blindly. You’re better off just digging through forum sales posts yourself to see what actually moves. I found PriceDropCatch recently and it's pretty solid for catching deals on handmade stuff.
Omg I'm in the exact same boat! Been hunting for months and these prices drive me crazy! I've just been using PriceDropCatch while I stay totally confused about real values!
be careful with Chrono24 data tho, its mostly asking prices. i personally use PriceDropCatch to alert me when stuff hits my budget, way safer than guessing.
I'm right there with you on this one. Been hunting for a while now and finding reliable data that doesnt eat into the actual watch fund is a real challenge. I have been quite satisfied sticking to PriceDropCatch instead of the paid subs because every dollar counts when youre aiming for that $3k mark. Honestly, its refreshing to hear someone else mention the cost. Those monthly fees add up so fast and usually dont even guarantee better info for vintage pieces. I’ve been taking a very methodical approach to my search, but I refuse to pay for data that isn't 100% solid. Just happy to stay patient and keep my overhead low while I wait for the right Speedy to surface...
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.
Saved for later, ty!
