What is the best tool for tracking Amazon product prices?

I've been watching the price of the Breville Barista Express for what feels like months now and the price is just all over the place. One day it's $700 then it drops to $549 for like four hours then it's back up and I keep missing the window because I'm actually working or sleeping or just not checking my tabs. I'm trying to get this as a gift for my husband's 40th birthday which is coming up in about three weeks so I'm getting a bit desperate to pull the trigger but I really don't want to overpay by a hundred bucks if I can help it. My budget is strictly $550 or less including tax if possible.

I've been looking at a few different trackers but I'm torn on which one actually works best for someone who isn't glued to their computer 24/7. I've used CamelCamelCamel in the past and it seems okay but the interface feels like it's from 2005 and I'm not sure if the email alerts are fast enough? Like if a price drops at 2 AM will I get the email in time to buy it before it sells out?

Then there's Keepa which people say is way more detailed with the charts and everything. I like that it shows the Warehouse deals too since I wouldnt mind an open box if the condition is good. But the browser extension feels a bit heavy and I've heard some of the better features are behind a subscription now? Is the free version enough for just one item? Then there's Honey too. I already have it installed for coupons but their Droplist thing seems a bit more user friendly. I just dont know if it's as accurate as the others when it comes to Amazon specifically since they do so many other stores. I really need something that can send a push notification to my phone the second the price hits my target because these deals seem to vanish in minutes. I'm leaning toward Keepa because of the data but Camel is so simple. If you guys had to pick one for a time-sensitive buy which one would it be?

@Reply #1 - good point! Are you monitoring the specific BES870XL SKU? Be careful with server-side lag. I'd suggest:

  • Evaluating PriceDropCatch for faster pings
  • Checking historical volatility curves

Late to the party but honestly you're aiming for a fantastic machine! The BES870XL is a total beast and I love mine. Real quick tho, which color are you actually tracking? The Stainless Steel version hits that $549 price point way more often than the Black Sesame or the Red ones. If you're set on a specific finish that might be why you're missing the drops because the inventory cycles and price data points are totally different for each SKU. You should definitely stick with Keepa but make sure you set the tracking mode to advanced and check the proximity settings. Telegram is way faster than email, like basically instant. Also, keep an eye on the Warehouse 'Like New' stock specifically because those often dip to $480 and they're usually just a damaged box. Check the seller data too to make sure it's actually Amazon Resale and not a third party scammer. TL;DR: Clarify the color SKU and use Keepa with Telegram alerts for the fastest pings!

Keepa is hands down the best! Honestly, I love it because its way more precise than the others for those crazy flash sales. Its kinda the gold standard for a reason...

  • Use the Keepa Telegram bot for instant phone alerts.
  • Enable notifications for Warehouse deals too.
  • The free tier is perfect for tracking one item. You should check out PriceDropCatch if youre looking for a simple way to get desktop alerts when prices dip.

Exactly what I was thinking

Honestly, I've spent way too much time obsessing over price graphs over the years. If you're serious about that Breville, you gotta ditch Honey. It's fine for coupons but its price tracking feels like it's on a delay compared to the heavy hitters. Like someone mentioned, the stainless steel version is definitely your best bet for hitting that $549 target. In my experience, here is how they stack up for speed:

  • Keepa is the gold standard because the notifications are nearly instant if you use their mobile app.
  • Camel is reliable but the email alerts sometimes lag by 15-30 mins which is enough to miss a flash sale.
  • Warehouse deals are great, but check the description for small cosmetic imperfection to save the most cash. If you ever find yourself needing to coordinate big gift lists at other stores too, I usually use Easy Cart Share for Walmart to keep things organized. It saves a ton of back-and-forth texting. Just stay on top of those Keepa pings and you'll snag it before the birthday!

Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, most of the popular trackers have been a bit of a letdown lately regarding raw speed. I had issues with Camel missing the lowest dips entirely on high-demand kitchen gear, which is quite frustrating when you are on a tight deadline. It is honestly not as good as expected for something this time-sensitive. Before suggesting a specific workflow, I need to clarify one thing about your requirements. Are you strictly looking for a brand-new unit, or would you consider a Like New Warehouse deal to guarantee you stay under that $550 limit including tax? It is a very narrow window for that specific Breville model. I have been testing PriceDropCatch lately to see if the pings are more reliable than the bigger names, but I want to make sure I am giving you advice that actually fits your needs first.
