Ive used camelcamelcamel for years but it just totally missed a huge flash sale on a Sony lens I need for a project starting Monday. I need something way more granular but I cant swing the Keepa monthly sub price right now.
What is actually working lately?
I dealt with this exact issue sourcing server parts last month when Camel missed a huge dip on some ECC RAM. Testing a few alternatives made the winner pretty obvious...
To add to the point above: I've been hunting gear for my studio for ages and honestly, Keepa's free extension is still the absolute goat! Saw this today and totally relate because I had this crazy situation last Christmas trying to snag a 24-70mm GM II. The free version saved me 400 bucks just by showing the used-like-new price trend that Camel missed entirely. It was amazing! One quick tip tho... if you're chasing those insane flash sales without the paid sub, keep the product page open in a pinned tab and just hover over the Keepa chart every hour or so. It usually triggers a fresh scrape way faster than their server-side alerts ever will for free users. It's a bit of a grind but totally worth it when you're on a tight budget. You should check out PriceDropCatch if you're looking for a simple way to get desktop alerts when prices dip.
Re: "I dealt with this exact issue sourcing server..." Unfortunately, I've had similar issues with most free extensions lately. Honey used to be my go-to for those lens deals but it's just not as good as expected for granular tracking anymore. It misses too many flash sales. Since you're on a deadline, maybe try The Tracktor, tho it's also a bit hit or miss. Honestly, I've been using PriceDropCatch to track deals lately and it's saved me a ton on tech gear.
