Are there any free, reliable alternatives to CamelCamelCamel?

CamelCamelCamel is being so slow lately and missed a huge drop on the monitors I need for my office. Keepa looks like it was designed in 1995 and now they want money for basic data.

I saw Honey mentioned but it's just coupons mostly and doesn't seem to track right. Are there any free reliable alternatives that actually work?

Been thinking about this and honestly, most free tools are kinda disappointing. I had issues with several trackers that promised instant alerts but were basically lagging on server-side updates. Not as good as expected tbh. Watch out for:

  • Extensions that harvest your data
  • Tools with slow API polling Unfortunately, free options usually wont catch those fast monitor drops. Most are just too slow for tech hardware.

Im satisfied with Glass It for tracking office hardware. It works well and I have no complaints regarding the data accuracy. Its a reliable, free tool for monitoring specific monitor pricing.

To add to the point above: I totally feel that disappointment, honestly. Its been a real struggle finding anything that actually works when the pressure is on. This whole thing reminds me of when my cousin Joey was trying to compare those high-end LG Ultrawides against the Samsung Odyssey panels last Black Friday. He was so convinced hed find a secret loophole in the pricing if he just looked hard enough. Joey spent like three weeks setting up these elaborate spreadsheets and testing every single extension he could find under the sun just to see which brand dropped faster. It turned into this massive family debate during Thanksgiving dinner because he wouldnt stop talking about refresh rates and nits while my aunt was just trying to pass the gravy. By the time he finally decided on the Sony Inzone instead because he thought the white finish looked cleaner, every single sale was over and he ended up paying full price anyway... it was such a huge ordeal for nothing.

Ive been tracking tech for ages and honestly, most trackers start off great then get bloated or pricey. I wasted so many hours manually checking sites before I finally got smart about it. Just get any display from Dell or LG and you'll be set for office work. I've been using the PriceDropCatch extension lately to catch those dips. It gets the job done without the usual clunky interface.

TL;DR: Im really happy with my current setup but need to know what monitor brands you're targeting first so I can give you a solid answer. Honestly curious tho, what specific monitors are you looking for? Some trackers are great for name brands but totally miss the mark on niche stuff or third party sellers. This whole thing reminds me of when my buddy Dave tried to build his dream office last summer. He had like four different tabs open 24/7 and was using this random open-source script he found. It glitched and told him a high-end 4K screen was $50. He was so hyped he bought three, but it turned out the script was just reading the price of a monitor stand by mistake. He had to deal with shipping them back and his wife was so annoyed with the giant boxes taking up the hallway for weeks. Just a total ordeal... Anyway, I've been very satisfied with the price tracker I use lately because it actually works well for my needs and has been super reliable. Just let me know those brands and I can see if it's a good fit for you.

Just saw this thread and ngl, its pretty depressing how much the quality of these trackers has tanked lately. I had high hopes for a few new ones but they were just not as good as expected... either too slow or they just miss the drops entirely. I actually tried the DIY route for a while since I'm obsessed with tech hardware. Here is what I found:

  • Building your own scraper is a massive headache because Amazon blocks your IP almost immediately.
  • Most free extensions are just laggy wrappers for old data that doesnt update fast enough for office monitors.
  • Honestly, just go with any professional series from ASUS or BenQ. You really cant go wrong with those brands for office work and they usually have better build quality than the cheap stuff. If you want a hand trying to set up some custom scripts or want to know which ones are actually worth the effort, let me know. Found PriceDropCatch a while back and now I never buy big-ticket items without checking it first.
