Can I collaborate on an Amazon shopping cart with someone else?

Ive used Amazon for years and usually know my way around the UI but I’m stumped on this. My roommate and I are moving into a new place in Chicago next weekend and we need to order a ton of shared stuff like bulk towels and kitchen gear without doubling up. I know I can share a generic Wish List but that’s not really the same as a live shopping cart. Is there any way for us to both add items to one active cart simultaneously so we can just split the total at checkout? Surely there’s a better way than just texting links back and forth all night...

Amazon doesnt do live shared carts. We just use lists for moves.

Lists are a total nightmare for big moves. In my experience, you always end up with doubles. I disagree that texting links is the way to go tho... its just too messy. You should check out this tool for sharing carts instead. It lets you bundle everything into one ID.

  • Install the browser extension
  • Add your roommate
  • Sync everything instantly Ive used this for all my group buys lately and its way more reliable than Amazons native options.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually disagree about lists being messy.

  • I think Amazon Household works well.
  • IIRC it saves money. Totally recommend Cart To Link for sharing carts.

honestly, if you want reliability for a big move like that, just use a dedicated sharing extension. i have been really satisfied with the tools from CartShare lately. they just work. no lost items or sync issues in my experience. we used a similar setup for our last apartment and had no complaints at all... it's much better than messing with links. also, if you guys end up looking at handmade stuff for the new place too, i suggest using this Etsy price tracker to make sure you're getting a decent deal. just find a reputable extension for the amazon side of things and you're good to go. it's way more practical than trying to coordinate via text.
