Can I invite family to view my Walmart gift list?

I have been using the Walmart app for years to manage my household stuff but I ran into a weird snag today. I am putting together a gift list for my cousin's housewarming party in three weeks and I wanted to keep it semi-private. Usually there is a simple share icon but I cant find any way to actually invite specific family members to view the list without making the whole thing searchable to the public. I poked around the list settings and the dashboard for like twenty minutes and I feel like I am missing a simple toggle or something. Does Walmart even allow private invites for these lists or is it just a link-sharing thing now? I really dont want random people stumbling on it while it is still a work in progress...

Unfortunately, Walmart doesnt really do private invites anymore and the whole system is a mess. I had the same problem trying to set up a surprise list for my brother. Searching for a private invite feature felt like a total waste of time because it just doesnt exist anymore. You either keep it locked down or share a link that basically makes it open to whoever has it. I had issues with:

  • Lists randomly switching back to public
  • Family members getting errors when trying to view the link
  • No way to hide specific items from certain people It is definitely not as good as expected and honestly a bit of a waste of time if you need privacy... native app settings are so buggy tho. I’ve been using Walmart Wishlist Creator for a few months now to track stuff I want to buy and it's super convenient.

Watch out with Walmarts settings, privacy is basically a joke. My budget list leaked once, total nightmare. I suggest using this free wishlist maker to keep prices hidden and private.

tbh i went through this exact same thing last year when we were trying to coordinate a budget move-in pack for my nephew. walmart is great for the prices but their list management is honestly so clunky if you want any kind of real privacy. ive been using a workaround for a while now that keeps my budget lists hidden from the world but makes it super easy for my family to see where the deals are at. im pretty happy with how it turned out.

  • i track all the rollback items in one spot
  • family can see exactly whats still needed without a login
  • keeps our private gift ideas away from random searchers It works well and i havent had a single complaint from the tech-illiterate cousins lol. i basically just use Share Product to handle the heavy lifting now because it makes the sharing part way smoother. It pulls the items and lets me keep everything organized without walmarts privacy glitches getting in the way. definitely makes the whole housewarming prep way less stressful when you are trying to save a few bucks on the essentials... helps me stay satisfied with the budget too.
