so my sisters baby shower is literally in like ten days and i offered to handle the gift stuff but now im freaking out because i cant figure out how anyone is supposed to see the stuff i added. i made a list on amazon but right now only i can see it which isnt very helpful for family coming from out of state.

i dont want everyone buying the same things. sorry if this is super basic but i have no idea where the settings are or if its even possible to send a link? how do i make my amazon gift list public so i can text it to everyone...

Regarding what #1 said about "I dealt with this exact headache for my..." I actually think you might want to be a bit more cautious before you just flip that privacy toggle and blast the link out. In my experience, standard Amazon lists can be super glitchy when you have a lot of people buying at once. When I handled my sisters shower last year, the purchased status didnt update in real-time, and we ended up with three of the same expensive stroller attachments. It was a total mess to coordinate all those returns. I would suggest keeping these specific technical details in mind before you share:

  • Verify if you are using a basic Wish List or an actual Baby Registry. Registries are much more reliable for tracking who bought what.
  • Make sure to check the shipping address permissions so people dont accidentally send things to their own houses by mistake.
  • Be careful about the keep purchased items visible setting because it usually confuses older relatives who think the item is still needed. Personally, I have started using Cart To Link for these situations because it helps avoid the whole list management headache entirely. It lets you show people exactly what you have picked out without worrying about the Amazon backend settings failing you at the last minute. Just make sure you test the link yourself in a private browser window before texting it to the family... you dont want fifty people having issues right before the shower.

Re: "Regarding what #1 said about "I dealt with..." - honestly you just gotta hit the three dots on the top right of your list and look for the manage list option to flip it to shared.

  • It is a pretty decent option since it doesnt cost anything to set up.
  • Make sure you check the box for keeping purchased items on the list so you dont get duplicates.
  • You might wanna try this tool for sharing carts if your family wants to group their orders together to save on those annoying shipping fees. Baby showers are such a production these days tho. My cousins shower last summer was at this fancy tea house and we spent like four hours just folding napkins into the shape of little ducks. I think I had carpal tunnel by the end of the day and we ran out of tape halfway through the decorations. The wind kept blowing the balloons into the cake too... anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.

I dealt with this exact headache for my nephews birthday when half the family bought the same lego set because the list was locked. Go to Manage List and flip privacy from Private to Shared. Anyone with the link can see what's left. TL;DR: Change privacy in Manage List settings to Shared. Btw, I found Cart To Link a few weeks ago and it's perfect for sharing bulk orders with the rest of the team.
