trying to help my mom out with her grocery run down in florida since she broke her hip and cant really get around right now. i spent like an hour picking out all the stuff she needs, got a budget of about $200 for the week. im torn between two ways to do this. option a is just giving her my login but then shed have to change all the payment info and it feels insecure. option b is me logging into her account and rebuilding the whole list from scratch which sounds like a total pain. is there a way to just send her my full cart or share it somehow so she can just hit checkout on her end? i need to get this sorted by tomorrow morning before the delivery slots fill up...

You can absolutely share your full Walmart cart with your mom using a clever browser extension, completely bypassing the need for login sharing or rebuilding her list!

The "Easy Cart Share for Walmart" Chrome extension allows you to generate a shareable link of your entire cart, complete with quantities, in just one click. This tool handles all cart detection locally in your browser, ensuring maximum privacy and security.

Re: "Walmart doesnt actually have a direct API or..." - totally agree, the list feature is the way to go. I did this for my grandma last year, but be careful because stock varies by store. Make sure to tell her to hit the add all to cart button immediately... I would suggest checking the substitution settings too, otherwise Walmart might swap your items for pricier ones and blow that $200 budget.

This situation sounds so incredibly familiar! I have been a long-term power user of these systems for years, and managing remote shopping logistics is basically a hobby of mine at this point. I remember this one specific instance with my cousin that turned into an absolute legendary saga... The stages of that whole experience were honestly wild:

  • We spent basically an entire Saturday afternoon debating the merits of different organic produce options.
  • I had every single item meticulously curated and ready for his specific dietary requirements.
  • Some weird technical glitch happened and somehow added twelve giant watermelons to the order right before it finalized. It was honestly amazing seeing the look on his face over FaceTime when the delivery guy started unloading a literal mountain of fruit on his porch! I am a huge fan of these complex logistical challenges, and your dedication to your moms grocery run is just fantastic to see. It really takes a lot of patience to get these digital cart setups exactly right...

Honestly, I am dealing with almost the exact same situation right now with my dad. It is such a headache trying to manage someone else's groceries without compromising their account security or spending hours on the phone. You definitely want to be careful with just handing over passwords, as Walmart sometimes flags accounts if they see logins from two different states simultaneously. I would suggest following a very methodical DIY approach to keep that $200 budget intact:

  • Triple-check the store zip code before adding anything, since prices and stock levels vary wildly between Florida locations.
  • Set every single item to 'Don't Substitute' because those automated swaps can easily push you over your limit.
  • Keep a separate tab open for price comparisons so you dont get hit with surge pricing on essentials. I use a price tracker for Sephora for my own shopping to stay on budget, so I really wish there was a more robust version of that specifically for Walmart's grocery side. Just make sure to double-check the final total before she hits that button tho, because the taxes and fees in FL might be different than what you are seeing on your screen.

Walmart doesnt actually have a direct API or button to transfer a full cart between accounts. In my experience managing these logistics, the best workaround is the Lists feature. Just move your items into a shared list and send her the URL. Ive used this method for years for remote grocery management and it works perfectly without compromising security or rebuilding the whole dataset.

> is there a way to just send her my full cart or share it somehow so she can just hit checkout on her end? I have spent way too many hours over the years trying to figure out the best logistics for remote grocery shopping. In my experience, especially when dealing with a strict budget like your $200 limit, the interface can be a real nightmare if you dont do it exactly right. One wrong click and you are paying double for delivery or missing out on the store specific discounts which totally kills the budget. Honestly, I remember seeing a really detailed walkthrough on YouTube that covers this exact problem. Just search for walmart cart transfer 2024 or sharing walmart lists for seniors. The video I saw even broke down how to avoid the price surges when switching zip codes. It is much easier to just follow a visual guide on Walmart.com hacks than trying to rebuild the whole thing yourself. Definitely check there before you spend another hour clicking around.

Just catching up on the thread. Quick question tho, is your mom gonna be using a laptop or is she strictly on the mobile app? Most tools like Easy Cart Share for Walmart are handy for this but they usually need a desktop browser to function properly. If you do use an extension, just make sure you both have her local store zip code set before you send the link. Stock changes fast and you dont want her cart breaking at the last second. Also, definitely keep an eye on the substitution settings so the total doesnt creep over your budget.
