Okay so I am trying to finish this PC build for my brothers birthday which is literally this Saturday so I'm in a huge rush right now. I have all these parts sitting in my Amazon cart and the total is around $900 which is my max budget so I really need someone on r/buildapc to look it over before I pull the trigger.
I spent like an hour looking this up and I saw people saying you can just copy the URL but when I tried that it just goes to an empty cart for everyone else. Then I read about making a Public Wish List but I am worried my full name and address might show up on there plus I dont want him to see it if he searches my name lol. My logic was that there had to be a way to just generate a link for the whole basket but maybe that isnt a thing?
I have tried:
I also saw something about using an extension called Share-A-Cart but some people on a 2 year old thread said it was buggy and stole data so I am kinda scared to use it. Do I have to manually copy-paste every single link into the post? That seems like it would take forever and nobody is gonna click 10 different links anyway. Is there a way to do this that keeps my info private but shows the whole build list at once? I'm in Chicago and parts take forever to ship lately so I need to order tonight if I want it by the weekend...
Jumping in, over the years I have tried many ways to share parts without doxxing myself. I once leaked my address via a wishlist, it was a mess. Better to just use a dedicated builder site that generates a clean link.
Wait, before you pull the trigger on that $900, what specific CPU and GPU combo did you actually pick out? Prices on Amazon change constantly and tbh you might be able to swap a few parts to get better performance for the same money.
Unfortunately, Amazon still lacks a proper way to share baskets directly. I had issues with those public wishlists in the past because they leak private data. It isnt as good as expected for such a huge site. Using Cart To Link is basically what I do to get it done quickly. For the parts, just stick with anything from ASUS or Corsair... you really cant go wrong with their stuff.
