How do I set up a wedding registry at Walmart?

Honestly fed up with the Walmart website right now. My logic was to use them because most of my family lives in rural areas where Walmart is literally the only store, and since our wedding is in October I really need to get this live.

I keep trying to find the actual setup page but it just keeps redirecting me to my general profile or some random registry search bar. I was thinking maybe I need to use the app instead of my laptop? But even then its just super confusing and glitchy. Im trying to keep things affordable for everyone but I cant even figure out how to start the damn list. Is there a specific hidden button or something for wedding registries specifically?

I've helped a ton of people set these up over the years, and the redirect issue is almost always a technical conflict between the main site and the registry portal. The most methodical way to bypass the loop is to avoid the main search bar entirely because it tends to default to product searches rather than internal tools.

  • Use a private or incognito browser window to prevent old login data from interfering.
  • Navigate to the Services tab in the top left menu rather than using the search bar.
  • Select Registry and then hit Wedding specifically to trigger the unique setup form.
  • If the laptop fails, try the app but only for the initial creation phase. Once the list is live, adding items becomes much smoother, tho the initial hurdle is definitely annoying. You should check out Walmart Wishlist Creator if you're tired of the official Walmart app crashing when you try to view your lists.

  • Seriously, I am stuck in the same boat and it has been nearly two months of trying to get our DIY registry live.
  • In my experience with these kinds of budget-friendly projects, you expect some hurdles, but this redirect loop is just next-level frustrating.
  • My fiance and I have been using Cart To Link to at least organize our own shopping lists for the wedding decor, but that doesnt help with the family wanting a registry.
  • Still havent found any button or hidden link that actually works... basically just staring at my general profile page every time I click anything registry-related.

Honestly, the Walmart site has been acting up for years when it comes to the registry section, so you arent alone. In my experience, the desktop version is just too glitchy and prone to those annoying redirects. I've tried many different browsers over the years and it still happens. Your best bet for a reliable setup is definitely using the Walmart app on your phone. Its much more stable. Just open the app, go to the Services tab at the bottom, and you should see Registry right there. From that menu, you can select Wedding and it actually stays on the page. I've found that using the app is also safer because it syncs better with the in-store scanners, which avoids people accidentally buying the same gift twice. Just take it one step at a time and you'll get it live for October soon enough.

Late to the party but I've been reading through this. Seems like everyone agrees the desktop site is a total mess and you should stick to the app or try incognito mode. I would suggest being pretty careful with any browser extensions tho... compatibility can be a nightmare and they might even be causing some of those weird redirects youre seeing. Make sure to check your browser version too because sometimes an old update breaks the whole registry portal. Honestly if youre still stuck just check YouTube. I saw a really good video about this recently that shows the exact buttons to click... just search walmart registry setup walkthrough and itll be like the first result. Way easier than fighting with the site menus yourself tbh.

Honestly, I've seen these Walmart glitches persist for years and they never seem to fix the backend. If you're looking for long-term reliability, I've compared a few options over the years:

  • Walmart: Great for rural family access, but the site is a mess and items go out of stock constantly.
  • Target: Much better interface but useless if your family isn't near a city.
  • Amazon: Most stable tech-wise, tho some older folks still struggle with the checkout process. I usually lean toward whatever is most stable because I hate tech that breaks. It's like my old kitchen appliances. I've had the same heavy-duty mixer for fifteen years because back then things were actually built to last, unlike these buggy websites that loop you in circles. My kitchen is basically a museum of stuff that just works without needing a firmware update or a cache clear. Anyway... but yeah, the Walmart site is just a headache. I just use PriceDropCatch to monitor my favorites list, it's way easier than checking manually every day.
