How can I share my Amazon shopping cart with my husband?

Honestly I am so fed up with how difficult Amazon makes it to do the simplest things sometimes. I have been sitting here for nearly an hour trying to figure out how to just show my husband what I have in my cart and I am about ready to just give up and shop somewhere else. We are in the middle of planning a nursery for our first baby due in late August and I have about 25 items sitting in my cart right now. I have spent days researching the best crib mattresses and black out curtains and little organizers and I just want him to look at the list, check the colors I picked, and then use his card to pay for it because he gets better rewards on his account.

You would think in 2024 there would be a Share Cart button but apparently that is too much to ask for? I tried the whole Amazon Household thing but it doesnt actually share the cart contents which is just ridiculous honestly. Like what is even the point of being a household if I cant see what he is about to buy? I am really struggling because our budget for this specific haul is $1,200 and I think I might be slightly over but I need him to help me decide what to cut.

Here is what I am trying to find a solution for:

  • It needs to show the specific options I chose like the exact size and the sage green color not just a link to the main product page
  • I dont want to use the Registry feature because half this stuff is just boring household items like lightbulbs and detergent that dont belong on a baby registry
  • It has to be something easy for him to access on his phone while he is at work in the city
  • I really want to avoid sharing my login info because our two factor authentication is a nightmare and always sends the code to my old work email

I even tried using a third party browser extension I saw on a blog but it looked super sketchy and I dont want to get my account banned or something. Has anyone found a workaround that actually works and doesnt take ten years to set up? I just want to click a button and have him see my cart... is that really too much to ask?

I totally get the frustration, I've been using Amazon for over a decade and it still feels like they hide the most basic features sometimes. When we were prepping for our first kid and trying to stay under a strict budget, I thought I was being smart by hoarding everything in my cart. Then I realized if you leave things in there too long, the prices start creeping up or things go out of stock without you noticing. I found a way that might work for you without touching the registry stuff or sharing passwords:

  • You might want to consider moving everything from your cart into a dedicated Wish List (not a registry).
  • Make sure to go into the list settings and invite him as a collaborator so he can see it on his own app.
  • I would suggest double checking the specific variations in the list because sometimes it defaults back to the basic color if you aren't careful.
  • Be careful and use a price tracker before he hits buy, because I've seen crib mattresses drop $40 in a single day and that would help your $1,200 limit. Be careful with the Save for Later section though, things tend to get lost in there and it is a mess to organize. Also, make sure that the shipping addresses match up on his account so you dont accidentally send $1,200 worth of gear to your old apartment or something. I have done that before... it was a total disaster to fix. If you are really trying to save money, definitely look for the Used
  • Like New options on those plastic organizers, you can usually save about 15% right there.

Jumping in real quick since I have been using Amazon forever and still get confused. I think I heard about this Amazon cart sharer on a different thread lately. Not totally sure if it keeps the specific sage green and size choices tho, but might be worth a shot.

  • seems pretty straightforward
  • might solve the 2FA issue Quick question, are you guys both on iPhones or is one an Android? That kinda changes which workarounds actually work.

Ugh, honestly I am in the exact same boat as you. My partner and I went through this exact headache when we were picking out gear for our home office reno last month. It is so frustrating that Amazon doesnt have a simple share button yet! I am usually pretty satisfied with how I manage my tech but this specific issue is a nightmare. One thing I will say tho... definitely be careful with those random browser extensions. I looked into a couple and they felt super sketchy because they ask for permissions to read all your data on every site. Ngl that totally freaks me out. I am happy enough just doing things the slow way if it means my credit card info stays safe. Its just not worth the risk of getting an account banned or hacked over some nursery curtains, you know? Better to be a bit annoyed than compromised. Hope you figure out a safe way to show him the sage green stuff without jumping through too many hoops!

@Reply #5 - good point to stay updated on this. I have been quite satisfied with my current setup, but security is a major concern when you are dealing with your main shopping account. You have to be methodical about what you install.

  • avoid any tool that asks for your actual password
  • check that the extension only requests access to amazon sites
  • make sure it doesnt store your session cookies on their own server Staying safe is the most important thing when you are managing a big budget like that. It actually reminds me of when I was doing a DIY flooring project in our hallway last summer. I spent weeks researching underlayment options because I wanted to make sure the soundproofing was perfect. I ended up finding this specific recycled foam that works well and I am still so happy with how quiet the house is now. Spent way too much time on the transition strips tho... anyway. Just make sure you arent giving away too much data just to share a cart. btw I use Walmart Wishlist Creator for my kids' birthday lists and it makes sending links to family so much easier.

Saw this earlier and I just had to chime in because I am going through the exact same struggle right now! It is literally the most frustrating thing when you have everything perfectly curated and then you hit a wall with the checkout process. I have been managing our home projects for years and here is what happened with my current setup during our basement renovation recently:

  • I spent three weeks meticulously selecting specific dimmable LEDs and very specific custom-length cables.
  • I had about 40 items ready to go in my cart, perfectly organized for the contractor.
  • When it came time for my partner to pay with the corporate card, we realized there was absolutely no way to transfer the selection.
  • We tried to recreate the cart manually, but we actually missed two items and ordered the wrong color for the outlet covers which delayed us by a week! It is amazing how much time we waste on such a simple task! I really feel your pain with the nursery planning, especially with all those specific sage green details. I just set up PriceDropCatch last month and it already alerted me to a price drop on a TV.

Re: "Saw this earlier and I just had to..." - honestly, I've been through this exact headache more times than I can count. Over the years, I've tried every workaround for sharing carts because my current setup for home projects is always a mess of specific variants. When we did our nursery a few years back, I realized that if you don't act fast, items go out of stock or prices spike. Here is what I have learned for making this work without the 2FA drama:

  • Use a cart-sharing extension that handles the variants (like your sage green) automatically.
  • Look for something that generates a simple URL he can open on his phone during a lunch break.
  • Speed is key here; don't let those items sit too long or you'll lose the deals. I actually found PriceDropCatch recently and it has been a lifesaver for watching the budget on those bigger $1,200 hauls. It is way more efficient than checking manually every morning. If you find a good extension, it really does solve the login issue since he just sees a mirror of your choices. Stick with it, you're almost at the finish line with the nursery prep!
