How do I filter for items offering free shipping on Etsy?

So I'm trying to find a birthday present for my sister and my budget is super tight right now like $30 max including everything. I live in a really rural part of Oregon so usually shipping costs a literal fortune and it always ruins the price at the end when I go to buy something.

I'm looking at these handmade clay earrings and they're so cute but I literally can't find where the button is to only see the stuff with free shipping. I know this is probably such a dumb question and I'm totally new to this whole site but I'm just clicking around and getting nowhere. How do I actually filter the search so it only shows me the items that ship for free?

Etsys interface has unfortunately become pretty cluttered lately. Once you search for clay earrings, you gotta find the All Filters button at the top of the results. Scroll down to the shipping section and check the free shipping box. Its not as intuitive as expected anymore. Tbh if you really wanna stay under 30, PriceDropCatch is great for tracking those random price drops too.

You should sort by lowest price after filtering. Id suggest double-checking the sellers return policy first to ensure your thirty dollar budget is protected... just in case they arrive damaged.

I have been shopping on Etsy since the early days and honestly, the free shipping filter is just the tip of the iceberg! I have spent way too much time hunting for deals, and I found a couple tricks that work better than just clicking a filter button.

  • Look for shops in your same region if possible, sometimes they have way cheaper rates or faster transit.
  • Check the shop announcement page for hidden discount codes because they almost always have a code like FREE35 or something similar for orders over a certain amount.
  • If you find something you love but shipping is high, message the seller! Since clay earrings are so light, they can sometimes adjust the price for you if you ask nicely. I use Easy Cart Share all the time when I am trying to narrow down gifts for my family so I can just send the whole list to my mom for a second opinion before I buy! It is seriously a game changer for staying organized while you are hunting. You can totally find amazing stuff under 30 bucks if you stick to those methods!

Just saw this while I was browsing and honestly I have been on that site for a decade so I have seen all the changes. Shipping to rural spots is the worst, I totally feel you on that budget. Over the years I have figured out there are basically three ways to handle this when I am trying to save some cash:

  • The Free Shipping Filter: This is the quickest way but it filters out tons of smaller shops that might actually have cheaper total prices even with a shipping fee.
  • Free Shipping over 35: Many shops offer this. If you can find five more dollars, you get more value instead of just paying for a label.
  • Direct Search: Sometimes I just type free shipping into the search bar along with the item name. It is a bit messy but sometimes catches sellers who dont set up their filters right. I have tried many tricks and the filter is usually the safest bet for your thirty dollar limit. I used to live out in rural Oregon myself, near Wallowa, and my mail carrier was totally terrified of my old dog, Rufus. He would literally leave my packages at the start of our gravel drive in a plastic bag tied to a fence post... kinda annoying when it rained. One time a goat actually tried to eat a vintage scarf I ordered because it was hanging too low. The scarf survived but it smelled like goat for months. Anyway, hope you find those earrings.

@Reply #4 - good point! Honestly it is so frustrating when sites change their layout every five minutes!

  • Seriously, just search for Etsy free shipping filter walkthrough on YouTube. I saw an amazing video about it the other day and it is like the first result that pops up. It makes it so much easier than hunting for buttons yourself!
  • Honestly, just Google it or check the Etsy help pages directly because they have a whole visual guide that is super helpful for new users.
  • I love Etsy for clay earrings, but eBay and Amazon are way better at making their shipping filters obvious. Etsy really needs to step up their game if they want to keep people from getting confused! Anyway, searching for a quick video is definitely the move here. You should check out Cart To Link, it converts your Amazon cart into a single URL instantly.

> How do I actually filter the search so it only shows me the items that ship for free? Before I get into the nitty gritty of how the UI has changed over the years, are you looking at shops located within the US or are you open to international sellers? It makes a massive difference in how those filters behave based on your IP. Hearing about rural Oregon takes me back to a summer I spent near Joseph back in the day. I had this old truck that basically lived at the mechanic, and I spent way too much time trying to find specific parts for the alternator. Shipping back then was even worse for stuff that heavy. I remember driving three hours through the mountains just to hit a salvage yard because the local post office couldn't handle the weight. Honestly, I still miss those quiet nights by the lake tho, even if the logistics were a total nightmare. I actually ended up helping the owner of the local diner fix his old 1980s computer just so he could print menus. Anyway lol, sorry kinda went off topic there.
