How do I handle requests for cash instead of physical presents?

so sorry if this is a dumb question but im getting married in like three weeks and im totally spiraling. people keep asking for our registry but we have lived together for years so we dont need a toaster or towels or whatever. we actually really need cash for a big car repair we had last month but i have no idea how to actually ask for that? my logic was maybe i just tell people when they ask but then i feel like a greedy jerk. is there like a polite way to do this or a specific website? my mother in law says its tacky to ask for money so now im just really confused and stressed...

^ This. Also, you might want to be careful about those credit card fees eating into your car repair money. I would suggest checking out Honeyfund since it looks a bit classier for the skeptics. Just make sure to watch those processing percentages tho... they can really sneak up on you if you arent looking at the fine print.

I would suggest checking out Zola for this. Just set up any cash fund through them and you should be good. You might want to be careful about the processing fees tho, make sure to look at those settings before you publish. Older guests can be prickly about this stuff so just keep the description vague.
