My 25th birthday is coming up on the 15th and I am literally so pumped to finally host a real party in my new Chicago apartment! I have been looking at stuff I want from all over the place like Etsy and some random small shops downtown but my family keeps asking for a link.

I saw people mention Amazon wishlists but that only works for stuff on their site and I checked out Elfster too but that feels way more like a Secret Santa thing. I just want one clean URL I can send in the group chat that has everything on it. How do I actually do that without making people jump through hoops?

I use this chrome extension, works well for me:

I just saw this and had to chime in because I have been in that exact spot with niche Etsy links. I use Share-Product for everything now and honestly have no complaints about how it handles random URLs. Its totally free which is a big relief since you probably have enough expenses with the new place anyway. One thing to watch out for tho... some small shops have weird coding, so always do a quick check to make sure the price and image imported right. If you spend five minutes cleaning up the list after you bulk add stuff, it looks super professional. My family actually stopped calling me for details because the link has everything they need. It is way easier than sending ten different tabs in a group chat.

You might want to consider Giftful because it scrapes product data from any URL pretty effectively. Be careful though, you gotta make sure your shipping address is toggled to private in the dashboard before sharing. I used it for my move and it keeps everything in one clean URL without those annoying Amazon restrictions... definitely easier for the group chat. Let me know if you run into any bugs.

I dealt with this exact same thing when I moved into my place a few years back. My family kept bugging me for links but I had stuff scattered across five different websites. I finally started using this birthday list tool and it is been a total game changer for me. I am super satisfied with how it handles the tech side of things. It basically uses a little scraper to pull the price and photo directly from the URL so you dont have to manually upload anything.

  • Get the browser extension for your laptop, it makes adding items way faster.
  • You can add notes for things like color or size right in the description box.
  • Just copy the master URL and paste it into your group chat. It works well because it doesnt force your guests to create an account to view the list. Been using it for every holiday since and have zero complaints... it just works tho and makes things way easier for my parents.

Like someone mentioned, everyone is basically suggesting these universal registry tools or extensions like Share-Product. It is cool how they pull info from different shops so you arent just stuck with Amazon only.

  • Reddit has some massive threads on this if you want more opinions.
  • YouTube tutorials show you exactly how the UI looks before you sign up.
  • Some sites are free, others have hidden fees, so watch for that. Honestly, just search for something like best universal wishlist 2024 on YouTube... there is a really good video about it that I saw recently that explains the setup process way better than I can. Its definitely worth a quick look so you dont waste time on a site that is gonna break. Since you are looking at different shops, you might want to use PriceDropCatch too just to make sure you arent putting stuff on there when the price is peaked. It is been pretty reliable for me for keeping track of stuff over the long run.

Like someone mentioned, keeping it simple for the group chat is the big win here. I have been managing online lists for years now and I am super satisfied with how much easier things have gotten. Reliability is the main thing im looking for these days because I dont want to be troubleshooting links while im trying to plan a party. My experience has been that you should just go with MyRegistry. You cant go wrong with their tools since they handle basically any site you throw at them. I have used their setup for several events now and it consistently works well without any glitches or broken images. Its a solid way to keep everything organized in one spot. I just use PriceDropCatch to monitor my favorites list, it's way easier than checking manually every day.
