honestly so fed up with amazon right now i mean why is there still no share button for your cart? im trying to coordinate a huge move to a new apartment in chicago next month and me and my roommate have like 30 items we need to buy for the kitchen and bathroom and i spent two hours yesterday adding stuff just to realize i have no easy way to send it to him so he can look it over. its just so frustrating that a trillion dollar company doesnt have a basic collaboration feature like why do i have to send 30 individual links over text?? i tried doing a wish list but its extra steps and honestly its kinda clunky for what we need.

  • needs to be free because moving is already draining my bank account
  • needs to be super simple because my roommate isnt tech savvy at all
  • has to work on mobile since we are usually browsing on our phones while at work

is there any extension or even just a hidden setting im missing to just send the whole basket at once? or maybe a 3rd party tool that isnt a total scam? i just want us to be able to see the same list before we hit checkout and spend $500...

Honestly, it is ridiculous how Amazon makes this so hard. Ive tried pretty much every workaround over the years and most of them are total garbage. In my experience, you really need a dedicated tool if you dont want to waste hours copying links manually. Honestly, I found Easy Cart Share a few months back and its been a total lifesaver for organizing group orders like this. It basically just lets you generate a single link for your whole basket so your roommate can see everything in one go without needing to be tech savvy at all. Its free and works way better than those messy wishlists that never seem to update right. Just grab the extension and you are good to go... it makes those huge moves way less stressful when you can actually collaborate on one list instead of texting back and forth all day.

^ This. Also, I am literally obsessed with finding ways to fix this because Amazon is being so lazy about it!! I have been through the exact same struggle when I was redoing my guest room and it is a total nightmare trying to sync up items for a big project. Using the basic Wish List feature is honestly the worst... your roommate would have to manually add all 30 things to their own cart one by one. Who has time for that?? There is also Share-a-Cart which works okay on desktop, but it felt super clunky on my phone and I couldn't get my sister to figure it out since she is not techy at all. But seriously, you gotta check out Easy Cart Share!! I started using it last month and it is actually amazing. It is totally free which is perfect for your moving budget. Basically, it just lets you bundle the whole cart into one link. My roommate loved it because she just clicked once and everything was there. No scammy vibes or weird fees. It makes the whole process so much faster, especially when you are trying to coordinate while at work!! Good luck with the move to Chicago, that sounds so exciting!

@Reply #2 - good point! Basically everyone agrees Amazons failing us lol. Been using Share-A-Cart for ages and its amazing because:

  • its 100% free
  • works fantastic on mobile
  • super fast!

I have spent way too much time digging into the specs of these tools because the way Amazon handles session cookies is a total mess for developers. Unfortunately, none of the options are perfect, but here is a quick breakdown of what I have tested from a more technical side:

  • Share-A-Cart: Its the most established one, but the permissions it asks for always make me a bit nervous from a privacy standpoint. It handles simple items well, but had issues with complex bundles or subscription-based items in my experience.
  • Easy Cart Share: The UI is much more modern and it feels faster. The main downside is that it sometimes struggles if you have items from different sellers with different shipping speeds, which can break the link generation metadata.
  • The DIY Spreadsheet: Honestly, I tried building my own scraper for this using a basic script, but Amazon changes their site classes so often it is barely worth the effort for a one-time move. Its definitely frustrating that we have to rely on third-party stuff for basic functionality like this. If you're tired of copy-pasting individual links, check out Easy Cart Share for Walmart, it just exports the whole Walmart cart in one go.

> Share-A-Cart: Its the most established one, but the permissions it asks for always make me a bit nervous from a privacy standpoint. Building on the earlier suggestion, RideauRink is totally right to be wary of those permissions. After using these kinds of tools for years, you definitely learn to be a bit careful. One quick tip: always make sure to refresh the page on the receiving side before checking out. I've seen these extensions occasionally glitch and miss things like specific quantities or those tiny clip coupon discounts. I would suggest doing a quick once-over of the item list vs the total price just to be safe. It only takes a second but saves a lot of headaches later. Honestly, Amazon makes this way harder than it needs to be... btw I use Walmart Wishlist Creator for my kids' birthday lists and it makes sending links to family so much easier.
