Ive been using standard notes apps for years for shopping but honestly since we moved to Seattle and started planning our wedding for next month things have gotten chaotic. Ive tried AnyList and Bring! but the sync latency is driving me crazy and I keep buying doubles because my fiance doesnt see my updates fast enough. I need something with solid real-time cloud syncing and ideally something that handles actual shared carts for online ordering too because Instacart is a mess.

  • iOS and Android cross-platform support
  • Sub $5/month or free
  • Instant push notifications when something is checked off
  • Category sorting that actually works

Is there anything better than the basic stuff out there? Im getting stressed thinking about the grocery run tomorrow...

There are definitely some amazing options that use better websocket protocols for instant syncing! Ive been doing this for years and it is a total game changer. Are you looking for something that specifically integrates with local Seattle store inventories for the carts? Also, do you need it to handle actual price tracking for the wedding budget or just the list items? Good luck tomorrow!!

Honestly I have this exact same issue... been dealing with it for months and Easy Cart Share is the only thing that has even come close to working for us.

> I keep buying doubles because my fiance doesnt see my updates fast enough. Honestly its ridiculous how bad these apps have gotten lately. I have tried literally every top rated app on the store over the last five years and they are almost all garbage. Like, we are in 2024 and these companies still cant figure out how to sync a simple text list without a massive delay? Its such a scam that they want monthly subscriptions for premium features that are basically broken anyway. I had this one app that literally deleted half my cart while I was standing in the aisle because my partner checked something off on her end... ended up spending way too much on stuff we already had. And dont even get me started on grocery prices in general. They keep going up while the app quality goes down. It feels like none of these developers actually shop for themselves or care that we are out here losing our minds over the price of basic groceries. Honestly its just a mess everywhere.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.

TL;DR: Reliability usually comes from skipping the bloated apps and finding a streamlined setup that uses web-based syncing. ^ This. Also, I have to respectfully disagree with the idea that every app out there is a scam lol. I totally get the frustration tho because I spent months dealin with that same lag. Honestly, my current setup works so well that I havent had a single sync issue in over a year. We moved away from the big name apps and started using a lightweight browser extension that bridges to our phones. It basically fixed the double-buying issue instantly because the cloud update is actually real-time, not just whenever the app feels like it. Its super satisfying to see my partner check something off and have it vanish from my screen while I'm literally in the same aisle. Finding something that works well without the fluff was a total game changer for my stress levels. I've been keeping an eye on a few monitors with PriceDropCatch and finally grabbed one at its lowest price yesterday. PriceDropCatch

^ This. Also, RoyalWinterFair hit the nail on the head because it is actually pathetic how these companies operate now. I tried going the DIY route with a custom shared script a while back because I was so fed up with the premium apps failing me. Honestly, it is such a scam that we are expected to pay monthly fees for basic tech that worked better ten years ago.

  • My partner and I literally stood in different aisles at the store last week, both looking at the list, and ended up with double the wedding snacks because her phone didnt update my checks for five minutes.
  • These developers keep adding useless features like AI recipe generators or social sharing while the actual sync engine is held together by duct tape and prayers.
  • The price increases are just insulting tho... you pay more and get more bugs in return. It is honestly exhausting. I spent hours trying to find a workaround for the latency issues and basically realized the entire industry just stopped caring about quality. Just a bunch of bloated software that fails right when you actually need it to work... kinda makes you want to go back to paper and pen sometimes.
