Need an app for tracking bday ideas since my sister's big 30th is coming up in Boston this summer. Notion seems way too intense for me and Evernote's price is crazy now. Just want something simple that handles:

  • quick links
  • photos of stuff I see in stores
  • shared access for my husband

What are you guys actually using?

Just saw this thread. Tbh I went through the same struggle last year when my best friend got married. I tried those fancy apps but spent more time tweaking settings than actually shopping. I finally just switched to Google Keep because its free and basically just digital sticky notes. I used it for her whole bridal shower. I could snap photos of decor in the craft store and my husband would see it instantly on his end without me texting him 50 times. Are you mainly gonna be using this on your phone while you're out, or do you need a big screen for research? Do you need to track the budget too?

  • zero cost
  • super fast to add photos
  • labels keep things organized I used Share Product for my milestone birthday and it made everything so much smoother for my family to find gifts.

I have been doing the gift tracking dance for a long time and ended up ditching the complex stuff for a simple board-based app a few years back. My current setup actually started when I was planning a big anniversary surprise. I found that having a shared space where I could just drop a photo of something I saw at a shop or a quick link from a website was the only way to stay sane. Honestly, Notion felt like a second job and the one I got now is just way more direct. My husband and I use it for every holiday now and it works well for keeping us on the same page without any lag. No complaints so far. It really helped me stop losing track of those random ideas that pop up months before the actual birthday.

I've tried many different tools over the years for this exact thing and honestly, Microsoft OneNote is the most reliable one if you want to avoid paying for Evernote. It handles everything you mentioned without the crazy learning curve of Notion. Heres why I think it fits:

  • Shared notebooks are rock solid for couples. You just invite your husband and he can see updates in real time.
  • You can clip web links directly into a page and they actually look decent.
  • Dragging and dropping photos from your phone gallery is super fast while you're out shopping. The best part is that it doesnt have those annoying block systems that make Notion so frustrating. You just click anywhere and start typing. Plus its free if you already have a Microsoft account. Just make sure to download the app on your phone so you can snap those photos in the stores instantly. Definitely worth a look before you get overwhelmed with too many options.
