Is there an app or something that tells you when Etsy prices go down? Im really new to shopping there and honestly I have no idea how it works or if you even can track sales. I found this really cool handmade rug for my first apartment in Columbus but its like way over my budget right now and I want to wait for a price drop. I tried just keeping the tab open on my phone but I keep forgetting to check it. Is there like a tool for this or a setting I missed in the app? Sorry if this is a super basic question but I am totally lost with how to find the best deals...
TL;DR: Etsy doesnt have a built in alert but PriceDropCatch is what I use. Not 100% sure if it catches every single tiny change, but I think it works for most shops. Just be careful waiting too long since handmade stuff is often one of a kind. I would suggest checking the shop bio too just in case they mention a sale coming up.
To add to the point above: unfortunately PriceDropCatch was not as good as expected last time because it missed a sale notification for me. Bummer honestly. Is it a vintage rug or one of those newer ones? Columbus cool tho. I actually moved into a place there last year and the landlord was a total nightmare. Had a leak in the ceiling for months that never got fixed. Anyway lol went off on a tangent there.
Like someone mentioned, PriceDropCatch is effective. Quick question: is it a unique rug?
Just found this thread while looking for some price-check specs. Honestly, I am super satisfied with using a generic browser extension like Distill Web Monitor instead of those specific Etsy apps. Ngl, it is a bit more technical to set up because you have to select the specific CSS selector for the price element on the page, but it works so well once you get the frequency right. I did this for a custom walnut desk last month and it caught a 15% discount before the seller even sent out a shop update. Since you are doing the whole apartment thing in Columbus, you are probably looking at other furniture too. I actually used Walmart Wishlist Creator to keep track of my kitchen gear while watching the Etsy rug. It is way better than just keeping 50 tabs open on your phone which just kills your battery anyway. Just make sure when you set up a tracker on Etsy that you select the actual price number in the HTML code, otherwise it might alert you every time the shipping info changes or something silly like that. It is a solid DIY way to make sure you dont miss anything.
Did this last week, worked perfectly
To add to the point above: honestly I'd be a bit wary of relying only on PriceDropCatch since it's been glitchy lately. I think I heard that PriceTrack handles Etsy's weird API changes a bit better than the others, but I'm not 100% sure if that's still the case. Someone told me it's more reliable because it pings the page differently, tho you might want to consider how much data these things track before you install. Be careful with any tool that asks for full access to your browser history. I'd suggest just checking the shop manually once a week too just to be safe. IIRC some of these apps miss the 'flash sales' that only last a few hours. Just make sure to keep an eye on your email too if you favorite the rug, sometimes the seller will just send you a private coupon code if they see you're interested... pretty sure that's how I got my last lamp for cheap lol.
