Im freaking out a little bit because I volunteered to handle the group gift for my manager Sarah who is moving across the country in like ten days and I have about $550 sitting in my Venmo from 12 different people and now I'm paralyzed. I really dont want to mess this up because it's a lot of money and I need to get this huge outdoor patio set she wanted on Amazon but the logistics are a nightmare. I looked into that Amazon Household thing but apparently that's only for two adults and like some kids so it's totally useless for a big office group. Then I saw people talking about just sending an Amazon gift card but that feels so lazy and we really wanted her to have the actual physical gift delivered to her new place as a surprise.
One thing I'm terrified of is the shipping address part. If I buy it on my account will it show my personal info to her or if I use a group list can everyone see my credit card details? I read some forum post saying you can do a
Is there like a specific group buy button I'm missing or a way to let people contribute directly to a specific item in a cart without me being the middleman for the actual cash? I'm honestly so stressed about the timing because shipping to her new zip code in Oregon takes longer than I thought and if I wait another two days it wont get there when she arrives. Has anyone actually done this for a big group without it being a total disaster or is there some third party app that handles the Amazon checkout better than the site itself? I just need to know the most seamless way to do this without me losing my mind or my money...
Man, I feel your pain. Doing group gifts is basically a second job that nobody asked for. I have been the office designated shopper way too many times and it can definitely blow up in your face if you arent careful. Amazon really makes it harder than it needs to be for big groups. Honestly, I stopped trying to use their weird internal lists and just started using Cart To Link to bundle the specific items so everyone sees what we are getting before I pull the trigger. It is way less of a headache than back-and-forth emails. Few things you gotta watch out for tho:
