so i just moved into this tiny apartment in austin with three other guys and we are literally so hyped to finally be living together!! we are planning this huge housewarming thing for next saturday and have a strict 150 dollar budget for food and stuff but i am completely lost with the walmart app.
i feel kinda dumb asking this but i cant figure out how we can all see the same shopping cart?? we all want to add our own snacks so we dont forget anything but i dont want to just pass my phone around all night lol. is there like a way to invite them to a shared list or cart or something so we can all shop at once??
Re: "Walmart is great but their app is honestly..." - yeah, it definitely lacks a native collab feature. In my experience, the most straightforward technical workaround is just sharing one login for the night. I've tried a bunch of list-sharing apps over the years, but they always lead to double-buying or someone forgetting to hit sync. If you all sign into the same account on your own phones, you can see the cart total update in real time. This is huge when you're trying to stick to that $150 budget because you can see exactly when you hit the limit. If you dont want to share passwords, the Lists feature in the app lets you share a link, but it's kinda clunky because someone still has to manually move everything to the cart at the end. Just going the shared login route is way faster for a one-time party shop and keeps everyone on the same page.
Like someone mentioned, sharing a login is a decent temporary fix, but it gets super messy when four people are trying to edit the same cart at the exact same time... items just start disappearing or doubling up. I've been through this exact scenario with my old roommates and eventually found a workflow that actually works well without the constant headache. I've been using Easy Cart Share for Walmart lately and it makes splitting the Walmart bill or checking items so much simpler. It basically allows you to sync up what everyone is looking at so there is no confusion. It is been a total lifesaver for our Sunday meal prep sessions because we can all see the total climbing before we hit checkout. Since you guys are on a strict $150 budget for the housewarming, here is a bit of veteran advice: always hit the Rollback section in the app first. You can usually snag those massive party trays or bulk snacks for way less than the standard price. Also, honestly, just stick to the Great Value brand for the basics like napkins, plates, and soda mixers. You will save at least $15 or $20 right there, which means more money for the actual food. It is a much more methodical way to shop than just guessing what everyone wants. No complaints from my side since we started doing it this way... it just works.
Walmart is great but their app is honestly annoying for sharing. In my experience, the easiest way is to use a browser tool instead of the mobile app.
