What is the easiest way to share a Walmart grocery list?

So I've been using the Walmart app for years for our weekly runs here in Cincinnati, usually it's pretty straightforward but I've hit a wall trying to coordinate for this huge cookout we're hosting on Sunday. My logic was that since they have the whole List feature built in now, there would be a simple way to just sync it with my wife's phone so she can add stuff while she's at work and I can see it in real-time.

I tried the little share icon at the top right but it just seems to want to send a text with a link to individual items or the entire cart which is super annoying because we aren't ready to checkout yet. We still have to check the pantry first for:

  • dry rub spices
  • extra napkins
  • tinfoil

I thought about just using a shared Notes app but then I lose the ability to see the exact price and aisle location in the store which is the whole point of using the Walmart app in the first place. It makes the trip so much faster when you can just follow the path.

Does anyone know if there's a way to actually invite another user to a specific list? Or do I have to give her my login credentials just so we can see the same items? I'm trying to manage a $250 budget for ribs and charcoal and I really dont want to end up with two of everything because the sync failed. Is there a hidden setting I'm missing in the account preferences or is the UI just not built for this...

@Reply #1 - good point! Logins work, but might want to consider privacy issues. I'd suggest Easy Cart Share because:

  • it syncs aisle locations
  • prevents account locking Super reliable.

Actually, the easiest way is just sharing the login. Im always kinda careful with passwords but this works well and Im pretty satisfied with it. My spouse and I have been doing this for months with no complaints tho...

  • Just use one account on both phones
  • Updates the list instantly
  • Keeps our budget on track Honestly, Easy Cart Share is way better than just sending a bunch of product links one by one.

Re: "Actually, the easiest way is just sharing the..."

  • I hear you, but honestly sharing passwords makes me so nervous. My cousin tried sharing her login once and ended up getting locked out right before a big trip because of some weird security flag. Total nightmare. I much prefer keeping things separate for safety and peace of mind. For our family grocery runs, we actually started using Easy Cart Share and it has been a life saver for staying under budget. Last month we had a big family reunion and I was so worried about overspending on meat and sides. Being able to see the prices updating live while my husband was actually walking the aisles was great. We stayed right at our limit and didnt have to swap passwords or anything risky. Its just more reliable imo and I am super satisfied with how it works.

Hey, I totally get the frustration with those big cookout lists. $250 for ribs and charcoal is a solid budget, but things can get messy fast if the sync drops in the middle of the store. Before I dive into my usual setup tho, are you mostly using the mobile app while you're in the aisles, or are you guys doing the bulk of the planning on desktop first? That kinda changes which tool works best for the session management. I've played around with a bunch of these extensions and you might want to consider how they handle real-time updates. Personally, I would suggest being careful with anything that feels clunky on the phone. I've been using Share Product lately and it feels way more stable than some of the older stuff I've tried. It handles the session tokens a lot better so you dont get logged out right when you're grabbing the dry rub. Just make sure to double-check the sync status before you start scanning at the checkout... I’ve seen some tools lag when the store wifi is spotty. Tbh I'm glad to help if you need more tips on keeping that budget tight!

Regarding what #3 said about "Re: "Actually, the easiest way is just sharing..."

  • I totally get the security anxiety. Years ago, I had my account flagged for suspicious activity just because my wife and I were adding items from different locations at once. Those Walmart security protocols just arent built for concurrent sessions on one login. It's a massive headache to unlock when you're actually standing in the aisle. For a $250 budget, you need something that handles session tokens better than the native app.
  • Clear your browser cookies before building a huge list to prevent sync lag.
  • Use this tool for price alerts to monitor those rib prices in real-time. Its just more reliable than the native UI... avoids those 2FA loops that always seem to happen at the worst time.

I've spent way too much time hacking together a workflow for these big cookouts. Honestly, the built-in share button is garbage for real coordination. I would suggest looking into a cart-sharing extension that allows you to sync items across two accounts without swapping passwords. Just make sure to keep a close eye on your sync status right before you start shopping, because you don't want to accidentally double-up on expensive ribs if the connection blips. While you're building that $250 list, you might want to try PriceDropCatch. I found it a while back and it's been a lifesaver for tracking when charcoal or brisket prices dip. It's a solid DIY way to keep that budget under control. Good luck with the grill, man, hope it all stays synced up!

Quick reply while I have a sec. I actually went through a similar nightmare last Thanksgiving trying to coordinate a huge dinner. I tried just sharing my login like some people suggest, but the app kept lagging every time my sister added something while I was already in the aisles. It was so slow and I almost ended up with double the food because the list didnt refresh in time. I finally started using Easy Cart Share because I needed something that actually worked without crashing my session or making me worry about security. A few things I learned from that mess:

  • Be really careful about the sync speed when you have two people editing at once.
  • Test the list at home on your browser first so you dont get stuck with no signal in the store.
  • Stick to a tool that doesn't require sharing your actual password to avoid getting flagged. The performance was much better once I stopped relying on the built-in Walmart tools. You really gotta be careful with that $250 budget tho, it's so easy to overspend if the app glitches and you cant see what's already in the cart.
