So I am finally finishing up my kitchen remodel here in Chicago and I have been eyeing this Breville espresso machine for months now. I went to buy it this morning and the price jumped up by like 150 bucks which is just insane to me. I could have sworn I saw it way cheaper back in October but now I cant tell if I am just misremembering things or if Amazon is just messing with the prices for the holidays.

I did some digging and found that site CamelCamelCamel and also Keepa but honestly I am a bit confused on which one to actually trust. I tried using the camel one but it seems to miss those short lightning deals or sometimes it just has gaps in the data where the price doesnt change for weeks even though I know it did. Then Keepa looks like it wants me to pay for a subscription just to see the basic price history charts which seems like a lot if I am only buying one machine.

Does anyone know which of these is actually better for catching the absolute lowest price it has ever been? Or is there some other hidden site that works better for tracking those quick price drops? I really dont want to overpay by a couple hundred dollars just because my timing is bad...

Hey there! Congrats on finishing the kitchen remodel, that sounds so exciting!! Chicago is a great city too. Its actually crazy how much prices swing around this time of year, so I totally get the frustration! I have used CamelCamelCamel for years and honestly, I love it because it feels so safe and simple. Im always a bit wary of giving random sites my info, but that one has been a total lifesaver for me. Pretty sure I remember hearing somewhere that it doesnt always catch the super fast lightning deals tho. Not 100% sure why that is... maybe their servers just dont check the pages fast enough? Its still amazing for seeing the general trends over a few months! On the other hand, someone told me that Keepa is way more detailed, but I tried it once and got a bit overwhelmed by all the charts. It felt like I needed a degree just to read a graph! IIRC you can still see the basic price history for free on their browser extension without paying for the fancy premium sub, but dont quote me on that. If you are really worried about every single penny, maybe check both just to be super sure? Im usually too cautious to trust just one source anyway! Good luck with the espresso machine, those Brevilles are fantastic!! I bet the first latte in the new kitchen will taste incredible!

Unfortunately most trackers are disappointing lately and miss the best drops.

  • try browser extensions
  • set price alerts Just buy any Breville once it hits your budget tho.

I've gone through this exact cycle with my home setup over the years. Honestly, the free version of Camel is fine for casual stuff, but for a Breville machine where $150 swings are common, it just isn't precise enough. In my experience, Keepa is the industry standard for a reason. Their data is way more granular because they scrape much more frequently. I used it to track my own machine and realized the 'deals' in November were actually higher than the random drops in August. The Keepa browser extension is the real pro move tho. It puts the graph right under the product image on Amazon so you see the history instantly. If you're hesitant about the subscription, just pay for one month while you're hunting this machine then cancel. It'll save you way more than the few bucks it costs. Also, keep an eye on Honey's price history tool... it sometimes catches weird coupon clips that the bigger trackers miss entirely.
