How do I get a Walmart grocery list to actually sync across two phones without it glitching out every five minutes? Honestly fed up with this app because me and my husband are trying to plan our big monthly haul for this Saturday at the Supercenter in Bentonville but every time he adds something it just doesnt show up on my end. Its making me so anxious because we have a $300 budget and if we double buy stuff we’re gonna go over and things are already so expensive. I tried logging into the same account on both our iPhones but it keeps kicking one of us out or the cart just stays empty on his screen. Is there a trick to this or should we just use a different app...

Honestly, the Walmart app cart is notorious for sync lag even if you use the same login. I found that using the List feature works way better than the actual cart for planning...

  • Build a custom list first, then transfer items to the cart.
  • Refresh the list manually by pulling down on the screen. This usually fixes the mismatch so you dont go over budget.

  • HighlandHiker is totally right about the stress. Last time me and my husband tried relying on the Walmart app, we ended up at the checkout with a total that was way higher than we expected because the sync failed and we both grabbed the same expensive bulk items. It was so awkward having to return stuff right there. I'm always kinda paranoid about these big apps failing now. You might want to consider a more manual DIY approach to be safe. I would suggest just moving away from the store app entirely for the planning part. Honestly, just get any shared list app from Google or something similar. We started using AnyList for our lists instead and it hasnt let us down yet. Just be careful and make sure you both see the updates in real-time before you head to the supercenter. Its just not worth the risk of going over budget when things are this pricey. Better to use a dedicated tool that actually works for sharing.

Unfortunately, the Walmart app is just not as good as expected for real-time collaboration. The session handling is pretty weak, so it constantly logs one person out to prevent what it thinks is a security breach. Its super annoying when you're trying to stick to a strict $300 budget. Honestly, we gave up on the native app for the actual planning phase because of those exact glitches... it's just not worth the stress tbh. If you want to avoid the headache, these are usually way more reliable:

  • AnyList (the gold standard for shared lists)
  • Bring! Shopping List (super visual and syncs instantly)
  • A shared Note on iOS if you want to keep it simple I'd suggest picking your Great Value staples in one of those first. Then, just have one person do the final checkout in the Walmart app once the list is solid. It saves so much anxiety compared to double-buying stuff.

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.

Like someone mentioned, the app is notorious for that lag and it honestly makes the whole experience way more stressful than it should be. Me and my wife had the same issue for years trying to prep for our big monthly trips. I've tried many different ways to fix it, even tried switching to the Target app which handles shared lists a bit better, but the Walmart supercenter prices are just hard to beat. In my experience, the best way to handle a strict $300 budget without the app glitching is to avoid the cart until the very last second. We use a shared note or a dedicated list app first. Then, right before we head to the store, I'll move everything over. Also, since you mentioned prices being crazy lately, I've been using the PriceDropCatch extension to keep an eye on our staples. It helps catch when prices dip so we stay under budget. Basically, the consensus here is right... the app's session handling is just too weak for two people at once. Stick to one login on one phone for the actual checkout and you'll save yourself the headache.
