Can I receive text message notifications for the QVC daily special?

I've been a QVC shopper for years but lately I'm getting so frustrated with missing out on the Today's Special Value items before they sell out of the good colors. Last Tuesday they had that shark vacuum and by the time I woke up at 8 am the blue one was totally gone. I'm trying to be way more disciplined with my spending since I'm on a fixed budget right now but I really need a few things for my new apartment.

I'm trying to figure out the absolute best way to get a notification the second the new deal drops at midnight but I'm torn between a few different methods and wanted to see what actually works for you guys.

Here is what I'm looking at:

  • Trying to find an official QVC text alert service. I looked all over my account settings under communications but all I see are email options and honestly my email is a black hole of junk mail and coupons I never open. Does anyone know if there is a specific number I can text to opt-in for just the daily special?
  • Using the QVC app notifications on my phone. My concern here is that my phone is pretty old (iPhone 8) and sometimes the apps crash or the notifications are delayed by like three hours which defeats the whole purpose. Plus the app keeps sending me stuff for deals you might like which is just clutter.
  • Just setting a manual alarm on my phone for midnight every night. This is the free option obviously but if I'm already asleep I might just turn it off and go back to bed without actually looking at the deal.

Basically I need something that is:

  • Completely free (cant do those paid alert services)
  • Specific to only the TSV deal
  • Reliable enough to work on an older phone with spotty service

I'm leaning toward finding a way to get a direct text message if that's even possible anymore. I feel like I remember them having a text club back in the day but I cant find it now. Has anyone found a workaround or maybe a third party site that just sends a simple SMS? I really dont want to miss the luggage set that's supposed to be coming up next week...

I would suggest checking your account via a desktop browser because the mobile site hides the best settings. QVC moved most alerts to push notifications, but you might want to consider their SMS shortcode instead.

  • Make sure to text JOIN to 78247 to see if your carrier still supports the direct daily deals.
  • Be careful with that iPhone 8 battery since the app is a total resource hog.
  • I would suggest setting a backup alarm just in case the text lags.

Building on the earlier suggestion, unfortunately the official text service is basically non-existent now which is super disappointing. I had issues with delayed alerts for months on my old device. It is just not as good as expected anymore. I suggest using a free QVC price tracker to keep tabs on things. It is much more reliable for sticking to a strict budget without the app clutter.

Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.

@Reply #5 - good point! Finding a reliable method to track these deals without the app bloat is essential if you're on older hardware. Since you mentioned wanting a DIY-style solution that stays within a budget, I have found a few technical workarounds that work quite well.

  • You can configure a web monitor to check the QVC TSV page for updates at precisely 12:01 AM.
  • Route those notifications through your carrier email-to-SMS gateway to receive a direct text message for free.
  • I found PriceDropCatch a few weeks ago and it's way easier than manually checking for restocks or sales, plus it avoids the app overhead. This approach is a decent option because it eliminates the background process lag that typically drains older iPhone batteries. Honestly, it keeps the alerts specific to the deal you want without all the extra marketing clutter that usually comes with the official app.

@Reply #2 - good point! The official texts are pretty much a lost cause lately. Since you are on an older phone, skip the app and just use a Safari shortcut. Go to the Todays Special Value page in your browser, tap the little square icon with the arrow, and hit Add to Home Screen. It creates a button that goes straight to the deal so you can check it the second you wake up. Its way more reliable than waiting for a notification that might never show up and wont cost you a cent. I was actually looking at that luggage set too for my sister. Shes moving soon and needs something that wont fall apart during the flight. Everything they make now feels like cheap plastic compared to the old heavy duty suitcases from back in the day. I really need to clean out my storage unit before I buy anything else tho... anyway, that shortcut method is basically foolproof.

The technical reason your notifications are lagging on that iPhone 8 usually comes down to how iOS manages background app refresh and the Apple Push Notification service. Basically:

  • Older hardware prioritizes battery life by suspending background processes more aggressively.
  • When an app is in a suspended state, it relies on a specific high priority push packet that the developer has to correctly implement.
  • SMS delivery is actually handled via the Short Message Service Center of your carrier, which can experience high latency during midnight deal drops when traffic spikes. I actually find the technical side of inventory management pretty fascinating. I used to run a small warehouse setup using old refurbished tablets for tracking stock levels. It worked perfectly fine for years because we kept the firmware static and didnt bloat the system with unnecessary apps. I was super satisfied with how organized everything stayed until we finally had to upgrade for security compliance. Its kind of funny how much tech we actually need just to buy a vacuum at the right price. Anyway, but yeah. You should probably try Easy Cart Share for Walmart if you do a lot of group shopping or office supply runs at Walmart.
