Ive been using the Walmart app for like years at this point, honestly ever since they started the whole grocery pickup thing during the pandemic and its usually super smooth but Im hitting a wall today. So we are doing this big family reunion BBQ thing this coming Saturday here in Austin and Im basically the designated shopper because Im the only one who knows which gluten free buns dont taste like cardboard and which charcoal my dad insists on using. Ive got a cart going right now thats sitting at about $185 and its got like 45 items in it.
The thing is my sister is actually the one who is going to be driving past the supercenter on her way here from Round Rock so it makes way more sense for her to just grab it but I cannot for the life of me find a way to just send her my cart so she can pay for it on her account or even just see the list to add it to hers. I tried looking for a share button like you see on Amazon where you can just send a link to a list but the lists feature on Walmart seems different? Its like its just for my own reference. I thought about just giving her my login but that feels sketchy because my credit card is already saved in there and I dont really want to deal with the two-factor authentication headache when shes at the store or trying to check out.
I checked the settings to see if there was some kind of household sharing thing like Prime has but Im not seeing anything under the account tab. Ive used the app for a long time and I consider myself pretty tech savvy with this stuff but this feels like such a basic feature that should be there. Is there some hidden workaround or a way to convert a cart into a public list that Im missing? Or am I stuck just taking a dozen screenshots of my screen and texting them to her like its 2010...
I had a similar headache during a block party last summer. Spent like forty minutes trying to export my item metadata into a spreadsheet because I didnt trust the app to sync correctly. You really gotta be careful with giving out login info even to family. I eventually messed around with Easy Cart Share to see if it could bridge the gap safely without exposing my saved payment methods. It worked out okay but manual lists are risky.
> Is there some hidden workaround or a way to convert a cart into a public list that Im missing? Coming back to this, I've actually been quite satisfied using a specific workaround for my own family gatherings and it works well every time. Before I walk you through the full process, could you clarify if you are currently using the mobile app or if you have access to a desktop browser? The interface layout varies slightly depending on which one you're using. Essentially, you should try creating a Custom Registry under the services tab rather than a standard list. It sounds a bit formal for a BBQ, but it basically functions as a public wishlist. You can add all 45 items there, and then just text her the registry link. It lets her see exactly what you picked and add them to her own cart without needing your login info. Much better than the screenshot method imo. Btw, I found Easy Cart Share last week and it's a total lifesaver for organizing group buys with my roommates.
> I thought about just giving her my login but that feels sketchy because my credit card is already saved in there Ngl it is totally sketchy to share passwords. Security is a huge deal to me after I learned that the hard way years ago. In my experience, Walmart doesnt have a built-in share button for carts yet. Are you trying to have her pay for it herself, or do you just want her to see the items? I just use Easy Cart Share whenever I need to show someone what's in my cart without giving out my login info.
