im so over the walmart app honestly. i've had this graco crib and dresser set in my saved for later list for like three weeks now because i am trying to stay under my 600 dollar budget for the nursery before the baby gets here in july and the price keeps bouncing around but I NEVER get an alert. like seriously i check it manually and see it dropped twenty bucks then it goes back up an hour later but the app says nothing?? its so annoying. im sitting here refreshing like a crazy person because we really need to get this room finished by the end of the month and i dont want to overpay if i dont have to.

i tried using the built-in notification thing but it feels like it just doesnt work or maybe it only tells you when stuff is back in stock and not when the price actually dips. not sure. anyway ive been looking at stuff like honey or some of those other wishlist sites but i dont know if they actually work well with walmart specifically since i know most of them are really built for amazon stuff. has anyone actually used a third-party tool that catches the drops the second they happen? do third-party wishlist tools track walmart price drops more effectively than the actual site does or am i just stuck manually checking every hour...

Walmart notifications are notoriously unreliable for tracking real-time fluctuations. Based on my experience, I would suggest looking into external trackers because they poll data more frequently. You might want to consider using this free wishlist maker to stay organized. Just be careful with automated alerts since they sometimes lag behind the live site. Basically, any reputable price tracking brand should help you catch those small furniture price drops so you dont overpay.

Like someone mentioned, the way Walmart handles local stock pricing is totally wild and makes manual tracking a nightmare! The nursery is gonna look amazing once you snag those deals! Being cautious about data is usually my thing, but switching to a dedicated tool was a total game changer for my budget. Quick tips for you:

  • Use a reliable site like this tracker that shows price history graphs so you see if a drop is actually a good deal.
  • Clear your cookies or use incognito mode... Walmart is sneaky and sometimes shows higher prices if they see you refreshing! It is honestly the best feeling when that alert finally hits. Good luck!

^ This. Also, i’ve been in your shoes and honestly, switching to a dedicated tracker made me so much more satisfied with the whole nursery shopping mess. Walmart is weird because they change prices based on local stock too, which the app just ignores. Having tried a few different tools, here is how they stack up for me:

  • Honey: It works well for coupons but the price drop alerts are kinda slow for Walmart specifically.
  • Capital One Shopping: This one is actually my favorite right now. It watches the price history like a hawk and usually catches the dips faster than the native app.
  • the Share Product tool: Using this to keep my lists in one place has been great so I don't have to keep fifty tabs open while waiting for a sale. It feels way better than refreshing manually every hour... i was definitely doing that for our car seat and it was driving me nuts lol. Glad I finally got it sorted tho.

Like someone mentioned, Walmarts internal notification system is notoriously inconsistent for tracking short-term price fluctuations. Third-party tools generally provide superior data frequency. In my experience, the effectiveness depends on the specific service architecture:

  • Capital One Shopping: Generally excellent for broad price history but sometimes struggles with rapid local inventory changes.
  • Honey: Reliable for coupons, though its price drop alerts can lag behind the live site by several hours.
  • Cart To Link: This is a solid option if you need to organize multiple items from different retailers to compare total nursery costs. To understand what would work best for your situation, I have a couple of questions. Are you primarily looking for a tool that tracks nationwide shipping prices, or do you need one that monitors the specific stock at your local store? Also, do you prefer a browser extension or are you strictly looking for mobile push notifications? Tbh using a dedicated tool is definitely better than manual refreshing when you are on a tight deadline.
