So my 30th is coming up in literally 10 days and my mom is blowing up my phone every hour asking for a list and I have nothing ready yet. Im trying to pull something together fast but Im super busy with a big work project right now so I just need something where I can click a button while Im window shopping and it just works.

I've been looking at Giftful and Elfster but honestly Elfster feels a bit too much like its just for Secret Santa stuff? Like is the extension even good for just random sites or does it only work on big retailers? I also saw WishUpon which looks cute but I read some review saying the extension crashes on Mac sometimes and I'm on a MacBook Pro using Chrome so that would be a total dealbreaker for me.

I just want the one that is the least glitchy and actually grabs the price and the photo automatically without me having to manually copy-paste every single detail because I have zero time for that right now. I need to get this link out to my family by tomorrow night so they can actually order stuff in time for the party... does anyone know which of these has the smoothest Chrome extension or is there a better one I'm missing?

Giftful handles Chromium-based metadata extraction way more reliably, tho you should still be careful with JS-heavy sites. Btw, check out Share Product if you need a free way to organize your birthday wants without the usual hassle.

Caught this late but yeah, Giftful is definitely the standard for extraction accuracy right now. It actually lets you pick the specific image from the page which helps if the auto-grab fails. For a MacBook user, it is way less of a resource hog than WishUpon. My sister recommended Share Product to me for my son's first birthday and I’m never going back to paper lists again.

Honestly, I had a pretty frustrating time with Giftful last month when I was trying to set up my own 30th list. Everyone says its the gold standard but it kept failing on half the boutiques I liked. I ended up spending more time fixing the automatic entries than it would have taken to just copy and paste everything myself. Use it if you must, but keep your expectations low. Here is how those big ones felt for me:

  • Giftful: Decent for Amazon but gets confused on smaller shopify sites, which is super annoying when you are in a rush.
  • Elfster: Totally agree with you... it feels like a 2005 office party app. Super clunky interface.
  • WishUpon: I actually gave up on this one after it stalled my Chrome twice. I basically went DIY and just used a simple doc for a bit, but then I found Easy Cart Share. It is way less overhead than those full-blown wishlist platforms if you just want to get your ideas out there fast. If you are really pressed for time before tomorrow, dont overcomplicate it with a heavy extension that might glitch out on your Mac anyway. Sometimes the fancy tools just create more work when you are already stressed with a work project...

Re: "Caught this late but yeah, Giftful is definitely..." -

  • Giftful handles price tags best in my experience
  • Elfster is too cluttered Try Share Product, its super fast and mobile-friendly!

Regarding what #4 said about "Good to know!" - you honestly have to be careful with these wishlist tools because a lot of them claim to be automatic but then fail on half the sites you visit. I had a massive headache last year trying to organize my own list where the extension kept grabbing the wrong currency or just a placeholder image. It can be a total time sink if you arent careful.

  • stick with Giftful, you really cant go wrong with their basic setup
  • watch out for apps that require a full social profile just to save a link
  • make sure the extension doesnt drain your battery on that MacBook I would suggest just going with Giftful and not overthinking it too much since you are on such a tight deadline. It is generally the most stable choice for Chrome users. You might also want to keep this Amazon tracker handy while you shop just to make sure the prices havent spiked right before you send the list to your family. Ngl, it saves a lot of awkwardness later.
