How can I get alerts when Etsy items go on sale?

Is there any way to get like, an actual instant notification or email the second something on my Etsy favorites list goes on sale? Im getting so hyped because Im finally planning my wedding for this October in central Oregon and I found these absolutely gorgeous hand-blown glass vases and some vintage lace runners that would fit the vibe perfectly but honestly my budget for decor is super tight like under 400 bucks total so I really need to catch a discount if I can.

Ive been doing a bit of digging and I read on a few blogs that Etsy supposedly sends you an email if an item you favorited goes on sale but i swear that never happens for me?? like I checked my settings and everything is turned on and I still miss out. Then I saw some people talking about using browser extensions like Honey or those price trackers but then other people were saying those apps mostly track big retailers and might not pick up on a small shop owner just knocking five bucks off a listing for a weekend flash sale. Its so confusing because I dont want to be refreshing the page every ten minutes while Im at work but I also dont want to lose these items to someone else because they saw the sale before me.

Does anyone use a specific app or maybe a script that actually works for this? I really want those vases before they sell out but I just cant justify the full price right now with all the other wedding costs piling up. I saw one site called Visualping that tracks page changes but it seemed kinda technical and I dont want to pay a subscription just to save ten dollars on a vase lol. I just want a simple way to stay on top of it without losing my mind checking my phone all day. Should I just message the sellers and ask when they plan to have a sale or is that too annoying?

Oh man, central Oregon in October is gonna be absolutely stunning! I did my sisters wedding decor on a tiny budget and I totally feel your pain about those Etsy alerts. Honestly, they are so hit or miss! I used to wait for those emails and they would show up way too late, so frustrating. What I started doing instead was favoriting the item and then immediately adding it to my cart. A lot of sellers have an automated coupon that triggers for abandoned carts or favorites within 24 hours. I once snagged these amazing velvet ribbons for 25 percent off just by letting them sit there for a day! Also, definitely message them. Most shop owners are super sweet and might just give you a discount code if you ask about upcoming sales. Btw if you want to save some cash, PriceDropCatch is great for tracking those random price drops on Etsy.

Been thinking about your decor hunt and @Reply #1 - good point about those alerts being buggy. I actually use the free tier on Visualping for my big purchases and it works well for me, no complaints at all. But honestly, just messaging the seller is usually faster. Ive done it dozens of times and most are super supportive of wedding budgets and might just send a coupon code directly tho.

Just seeing this now. I tried relying on Etsys own notifications when I was hunting for a specific walnut table last year, but the emails always arrived hours too late. I ended up using this Etsy price tracker instead. It actually monitors the specific listing price rather than relying on the sites buggy mailing system. It caught a flash sale for me that Honey completely missed.

Regarding what #4 said about "Solid advice 👍"

  • I definitely agree that talking to the seller is a solid move, but honestly, I found a way better setup for my own wedding shopping that kept me sane.
  • Honestly, just go to YouTube and search for "Etsy price tracker tutorial" or something similar. There is this one really popular video that shows exactly how to use a basic browser script for this. I saw it a while back and it basically solves the whole notification lag issue.
  • I have been super satisfied with my results once I started using Cart To Link to keep track of everything. It works well because I can just send my whole cart over to my partner for a second opinion before a sale ends, no complaints at all with that workflow.
  • Also, check the Etsy subreddits. People post about new tracking tools there constantly so you can just find the most recent thread and follow whatever they suggest. Its way better than refreshing pages manually all day long tbh.
