How can I track the price history of items on Amazon?

Im starting a new remote job in about three weeks and Ive gotta get a decent desk setup going without blowing my whole first paycheck before I even get it. Im looking for a few specific things:

  • a decent mechanical keyboard (brown switches preferably)
  • a task chair that wont kill my back
  • maybe a monitor arm if there is money left over

The prices on Amazon are all over the place lately. One minute the chair is 150 bucks and the next it says its on sale for 210 which is total bs because I saw it cheaper yesterday. I really need to stay under a 500 dollar budget for everything so Ive been looking into price trackers to stop getting ripped off.

Im torn between using Keepa or CamelCamelCamel right now. Keepa looks like it has way more data with those crazy graphs and stuff but honestly its kinda overwhelming to look at on my phone. CamelCamelCamel seems way simpler and easier to read but Ive heard it doesnt update quite as fast and I dont want to miss a lightning deal or anything. Then theres Honey but I feel like thats more for coupons than actually tracking historical lows? Im leaning toward Keepa just because it looks more professional but Im worried Ill mess up the settings. Which one is actually better for someone who needs to buy stuff within the next 14 days and wants the absolute lowest price possible...

Unfortunately, Keepas data granularity was not as good as expected during the last Prime Day. I had issues with stale cached prices and missed a huge dip on my Keychron keyboard. Camel is even worse with refresh rates, tbh. Lately, I've been using PriceDropCatch to track my setup gear and it's way more responsive for those short-window lightning deals.

Hey, just saw this. Honestly, if you're worried about settings, definitely be careful with those browser extensions. I've heard they can sometimes be a bit invasive with your data, so make sure to check the privacy settings if you go with Keepa. I would suggest maybe just using the website instead of the plugin if you want to be safe... Speaking of those brown switches though, be careful getting into the mechanical keyboard world lol. It starts with one budget board and next thing you know you're looking at custom keycaps and lubing switches on a Friday night. I actually tried to mod my first board to make it quieter because my roommate kept complaining about the clicking sound. I ended up buying this weird specialized acoustic foam from a craft store but I accidentally glued half the keys shut. It was a total nightmare. I spent like four hours with a pair of tweezers trying to scrape out dried superglue while watching a documentary about deep sea squids. Those squids are actually terrifying, did you know they have eyes the size of basketballs? I stayed up until 3 am reading about the Colossal Squid and now I'm lowkey scared of the ocean even though I live in the middle of a desert. Anyway lol sorry I kinda went off on a tangent there.

Jumping in here because I totally get the frustration with those fake Amazon deals. Its honestly exhausting. I used to rely on CamelCamelCamel for everything, but unfortunately, their refresh rate has been pretty disappointing lately. I had issues with missing a huge discount on a Steelcase chair because the alert came in three hours too late... not as good as expected when you are on a tight deadline. Keepa is definitely more technical because it tracks the Buy Box and warehouse deals, which is key for saving on a monitor arm, but that mobile app is basically a nightmare to navigate. Honey is kinda useless for real price history tbh, its mostly just a coupon aggregator. If you want the absolute lowest price in two weeks, you gotta stick with Keepa but focus strictly on the New and Used filters to cut the noise. Its a bit of a learning curve but way more reliable for catching those blink-and-you-miss-it drops.
