How do I set up alerts for Etsy price changes?

So Ive been tracking this specific vintage mahogany writing desk for my home office setup here in Chicago for like three weeks now. The seller has it listed for $850 which is just way too high for my current budget—I'm really trying to stay under $500 if possible since the freight shipping alone is gonna cost me another hundred bucks. I know sellers sometimes do flash sales or just drop the price if an item has been sitting for a while so I want to be ready to pounce and buy it before someone else does.

I did some digging online and saw a few people suggesting stuff like the Honey browser extension or this site called Karma. I tried setting up Karma but it feels like its geared more towards big box stores like Target or Amazon and I cant really figure out if it actually scrapes Etsy shop pages reliably for one-of-a-kind items. I also read on some old Reddit thread that if you favorite an item or leave it in your cart Etsy is supposed to email you when the price drops but that has literally never worked for me in the past. Like I’ll go back to my cart and see reduced price in red text but I never got a single notification about it in my inbox.

Is there a better way to do this? Like maybe an app or a specific site that actually works for individual Etsy listings? I really dont want to be refreshing the page every few hours...

I missed a gorgeous mid-century lamp last year because the notification arrived way too late. Unfortunately, Karma and Honey just arent reliable for vintage one-offs. I started using the PriceDropCatch extension recently after those failed me. It actually pings you immediately when prices shift, which is how I finally got my office chair.

@Reply #1 - good point! Be careful with messy scrapers tho. I once lost a vintage piece when a script failed so i dont trust most tools, check this free extension for reliability.
