tbh its kinda annoying that the walmart app doesn't have a big share button right in the checkout screen. i've run into this exact thing plenty of times when splitting groceries with people... what you want to do is use the list feature instead of the cart itself. basically go to the items tab at the bottom and tap lists at the top. create a new list for the party and move your items there. once youre in that specific list there is a share icon in the top right that lets you send a direct link. it works pretty well and honestly is the only way to do it without sharing passwords or re-typing everything. if you need a hand finding the button just ask, i can walk you through it. its a bit of a workaround but way better than starting over.

Just jumping in here... basically the reason you cant find a share button is because Walmart ties the cart to your specific account session. A direct link to a cart page wont work for anyone else because it doesn't store the data in the URL itself. Its a technical limitation of their platform architecture tho. To get around this without re-typing everything, try this method:

  • Move all your cart items into a new Registry or Gift List rather than just a standard grocery list.
  • Navigate to that specific registry and check the settings to make sure its set to Public.
  • Use the share icon from the registry page to get a persistent link. Its a bit of a workaround but it creates a stable URL your roommate can actually open. I usually suggest the extension I use for Walmart if you do this often since it helps manage lists across different platforms more reliably. Registries are really the only way to get a direct, clickable link that stays active.

I actually ran into this exact headache while prepping for a housewarming party last month. Since I'm a bit of a data geek, I really wanted a clean way to export the item manifest without any manual entry. I eventually found a handy tool for sharing carts and was honestly so satisfied with how it handled the transfer. It basically parses your session data to generate a shareable URL that actually persists for other people. It works well for splitting costs since everyone sees the exact same unit prices in real-time. No complaints from my side, it definitely beats taking a dozen blurry screenshots of a grocery list. Just make sure you pull up the site in your mobile browser instead of the native app to get the tool to sync properly... much smoother experience.
