So I've been sitting here for like forty minutes trying to figure this out and I'm starting to feel a bit tech-illiterate which is great. My younger sister just moved into her first real apartment over in Austin and she's totally broke and overwhelmed with the move so I wanted to help out by getting her some essentials. I'm talking like the boring stuff she probably forgot to buy-laundry detergent, dish soap, some paper towels, and maybe a basic toaster since I know she doesn't have one. I have about $150 set aside for this little welcome home care package.
My logic was that I could just go on the Walmart site, fill up a cart with all the specific brands I know she likes, and then just text her a link so she could look it over. I want her to be able to pick the delivery time herself because her work schedule is all over the place and I don't want a bunch of groceries sitting on a porch in the Texas heat if she's not home. Plus she might want to swap out the scent of the cleaner or whatever.
I did a little digging online before posting this and I keep seeing people talk about the Walmart Lists feature. I tried making a list and sharing it but it's honestly kind of a pain. It doesn't actually put the items in her cart, it just shows her a list of stuff I liked, and then she has to go through and add every single item manually. That feels like I'm giving her a chore instead of a gift. Then I saw some mentions of a Chrome extension called Share-A-Cart. It sounds like exactly what I need but I'm doing most of this on the mobile app while I'm on my lunch break and I'm also just kinda sketched out by third-party extensions having access to my shopping data or her account info.
Is there really no native way to just... send the cart? I looked everywhere in the app and on the desktop site and I feel like I'm going crazy. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or there's a workaround I haven't thought of yet? I just want a simple way for her to open the app and see everything I picked out ready to go...
Regarding what #2 said about registries being clunky, registries are a total mess for groceries. They just dont work well for this. I have had great results with these:
Quick reply while I have a sec. @Reply #1 - good point! But honestly, in my experience, registries are too clunky for basic soap and detergent. Over the years, I've noticed Walmarts session tokens make direct cart sharing a nightmare. A couple things to clarify:
Walmart unfortunately lacks a direct feature to share an active shopping cart. Ive found these methods to be the most efficient for helping people out:
