Is there a way to organize grocery lists within Chrome tabs?

Im trying to get my life together for this big housewarming party Im hosting in Chicago next month and honestly the grocery planning is stressing me out. I have like 40 tabs open with different recipes from NYT Cooking, price comparisons between the Costco in Lincoln Park and the local Jewel-Osco, and a massive spreadsheet for my $500 budget. Its a mess. I keep losing which tab belongs to which store and I'm really trying to find a way to keep these lists organized right inside Chrome without having to constantly flip back and forth or write things down on actual paper because I know Ill just lose the paper anyway.

I've been looking at a few ways to handle this:

  • Chrome Tab Groups: They seem easy but I'm scared I'll lose everything if the browser updates or crashes.
  • Workona: This looks super clean but it might be way too much for what I need.
  • OneTab: Good for saving memory but I hate that I can't see the tabs while I'm working.

Im leaning toward just sticking with the basic groups but I'm worried they aren't stable enough for a big project like this. Which of these is actually better for someone who's a bit disorganized but needs to keep like three different store lists separate?

Tab groups are actually pretty solid if you right-click and toggle Save Group so they dont disappear when you close the window. Ive been super satisfied with that setup lately. For the groceries specifically, I used Walmart Wishlist Creator to build my lists while I was researching recipes. It works really well for keeping items organized by store without needing forty tabs open... definitely makes things feel less chaotic.

I am literally going through the exact same struggle right now with a massive family reunion. It is such a headache trying to compare prices between different grocery stores while keeping recipes open in twenty different tabs... honestly, the stress of potentially losing all that data is real. I would suggest you be extremely careful about relying solely on browser-based storage for something this important. I have seen too many people lose their entire planning process because of a single glitch or update. You might want to consider just moving your whole workflow into a dedicated ecosystem instead of fighting with the browser. I would suggest you just go with Google for this. You really cant go wrong with their tools for staying synced up across devices without spending any extra money. Just make sure to keep your budget sheets updated manually as you go. It is a much more stable way to handle the logistics compared to just hoping your tabs stay put.

I absolutely love using tab groups for this stuff! It is a fantastic way to maintain visual organization when you are juggling store comparisons. For maximum reliability, I always add this step:

  • Right-click and bookmark all tabs into a backup folder Doing this creates a permanent record of your research. Its a total lifesaver for big housewarming plans!
