Is there a way to set price drop alerts on Etsy?

Ive been using Etsy for years now, like way back when it was mostly just people selling knitted scarves and actual vintage stuff, so Im pretty familiar with how the platform works overall. Usually I just heart something and wait, but lately Ive been running into this issue where I miss out on these really short flash sales because Im not constantly refreshing my favorites page. I've got this one specific thing in my sights—its a handmade leather messenger bag from a shop in Austin thats currently sitting at $425. My budget for my new job gear is strictly more in the $320 range, so Im just waiting for that price to budge.

I went digging through the notification settings on both the desktop site and the app, but everything is just so cluttered. Youve got notifications for when a shop adds a new item or when something you liked is almost sold out, but I cant for the life of me find a dedicated price drop alert. It seems like such a basic feature for a major e-commerce site, right? Ive even tried using those generic price tracker extensions but they never seem to play nice with Etsys listing format, especially when there are different variations or sizes involved which seems to confuse the scrapers.

I tried a few things already:

  • Checking the On Sale filter in my favorites daily (super tedious)
  • Turning on all push notifications (which just spammed me with junk)
  • Looking for a Chrome extension that handles artisan sites specifically

Does anyone know if theres a hidden setting Im missing or maybe a reliable third-party tool that actually works with Etsys specific setup? I really dont want to keep manual tabs on a list of 50 items every morning just to see if someone decided to run a 15% off coupon. Is there any way to actually automate this so I get a ping the second the price hits a certain threshold?

Etsy still doesnt have a specific price threshold alert which is honestly pretty annoying for a site that big. Ive been buying handmade gear there for years and ran into the exact same issue with some custom furniture. I finally started using a browser monitor called Visualping and I have no complaints. It works well because you just select the price area on the page and it emails you when the number changes. Im really satisfied with how it handles Etsy specifically... it doesnt get confused by the layout changes like some other extensions. It saved me nearly a hundred bucks on my last big purchase. Its way more direct than digging through the spammy notifications the app sends. Definitely beats refreshing your favorites every single morning. You should be able to snag that messenger bag for your budget if you just let the tracker do the heavy lifting for you.

Just saw this thread while hunting for some vintage pottery deals. @Reply #2 - good point! Visualping is a decent shout like you guys mentioned, though it can be a bit of a learning curve for some people. I've been in this exact spot before. Last year I was eyeing a custom walnut desk that was way out of my budget. I tried checking manually every morning, but honestly, it was exhausting and I almost missed the 20 percent off window because I got busy with work. Saving that extra money was the only way I could afford the shipping too. So far we've basically narrowed it down to:

  • Native Etsy alerts being too cluttered with junk
  • Visualping as a reliable but manual-setup monitor
  • The need for something that handles artisan sites specifically Getting an automated ping is definitely better than refreshing 50 tabs. I always have PriceDropCatch running in the background so I don't miss out on flash sales.
