Ive been using Apple Notes and simple checklists for like five years now so Im not a total noob but honestly its getting so messy now that Im trying to meal prep for six people every Sunday. I finally got my husband to join a shared list but the syncing is just trash and we keep double buying milk lol. I need something that actually categorizes stuff by the grocery store aisles automatically because Im tired of running back and forth from produce to dairy three times. Been looking at some that claim to have OCR for receipts too which would be a game changer for our $200 weekly budget. What are the best apps you guys use for actually organizing this stuff properly?

Oh man, I totally feel your pain with the double milk thing! I used to do that constantly until I switched to AnyList and honestly it changed my entire life. I've been doing the big family meal prep for like eight years now and let me tell you, that aisle categorization is a total game changer for staying on budget. I used to wander around and grab random snacks just because I was lost, but now I stick to the list and save at least fifty bucks a week! It syncs instantly between me and my partner so we never accidentally buy the same thing twice. Its literally amazing how much stress it cuts out when you arent sprinting across the store five times. For the budget side, I always check the digital coupons in my store app first then put them in the list. Just a tip, Walmart Wishlist Creator is a life saver for planning big holiday shopping trips without losing track of things.

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly though, be careful with app permissions. I once used a list app that sold my data, so Im super cautious now. TL;DR: Just search Reddit for aisle grocery apps and youll find detailed lists. I saw a great video on it recently too. I also use this Chrome extension to keep my budget in check. Better safe than sorry!

caught this a day late but man, i feel that $200 budget struggle so hard. feeding six people is basically a full-time job and every dollar counts... i've been doing the same for years and honestly, i'd suggest being a bit cautious with those ocr receipt scanners. some of them are super buggy and might mess up your tracking, which is the last thing you need when you're trying to stay disciplined. i found that aisle sorting is the only way i dont end up with five things of oreos i didnt need lol. i also started using PriceDropCatch to double check if the sales at my local store are actually legit or just marketing fluff. it really helps keep the grocery bill from creeping up. just take it slow and maybe test one app for a week before moving your whole life over to it. let me know if you need any other meal prep tips tho, its a steep learning curve!
