What is the easiest app for sharing holiday wishlists with family?

So Ive been the designated family logistics person for years now and honestly I thought I had our Christmas system down to a science. I usually just set up a shared Google Sheet and everyone goes in and adds their links but man this year has been a total disaster. My sister-in-law somehow managed to delete half the rows while trying to view it on her phone and my mom keeps saying she cant figure out how to add photos so we just end up with 50 text messages anyway. Its getting to be too much to manage and with everyone being in different states this year I really need something that just works without me having to give a tech support tutorial every Sunday.

I checked out Elfster but it feels a bit geared toward Secret Santas and we dont really do that we just want a spot where everyone can post what they want and others can mark it as bought so we dont get three of the same LEGO set for my nephew. I need something that allows for direct links from Amazon or Target because that makes it way easier. I was looking at GiftHero or maybe Giftster but I havent actually tried them yet. I dont mind a small subscription fee if it really makes life easier but free is always better since Im already dropping a ton on travel to get everyone home for the holidays.

The main thing is the user interface has to be dead simple because if it has more than three buttons my dad is gonna give up and just buy everyone socks again. Were about 6 weeks out from the big day so I really need to get this set up before the Black Friday madness starts otherwise its gonna be chaos. What are you guys using these days that actually sticks? Is there an app that lets you just scan barcodes in a store or something cool like that or am I overthinking this and should just go back to the messy group chat...

Re: My sister-in-law somehow managed to delete half... yeah, spreadsheets are a recipe for disaster with family. Personally, I found Giftster a bit clunky. I've been very satisfied with GiftHero lately. It's free and handles those direct Amazon or Target links perfectly. The claim feature is foolproof so you won't get duplicates, and it prevents anyone from accidentally deleting someone else's list items. Much more stable for the non-techy folks.

> My sister-in-law somehow managed to delete half the rows while trying to view it on her phone Omg I totally feel that frustration! Google Sheets is a nightmare for this stuff because it lacks row-level permissions. You gotta try Giftster!!! I looked into the specs and its seriously impressive how it handles URL parsing and metadata. It uses this Fetch feature that scrapes the product data, price, and images automatically so your mom wont even have to upload anything herself. Its fantastic! My quick tip: Use the mobile app for the barcode scanner. It handles UPC lookups instantly which is peak efficiency for in-store shopping. It even has a reserved status that hides the purchase from the recipient but shows it to everyone else via their sync engine so no double-buying happens! Seriously its the most stable UI and robust database Ive found for non-techy parents. Love it so much!!
