Ive used Pinterest boards forever to track stuff for my home reno in Seattle but lately the metadata just isnt syncing and links are breaking. Its killing my 5k budget tracking. What apps are out there that let you save products from literally any online retailer without the broken links?

I shifted my workflow to tools that scrape price data more accurately after Pinterest failed me during my kitchen remodel last year. It is honestly a much more methodical way to track things.

  • Share Product for saving universal product links
  • Raindrop.io for browser-based tagging The metadata on these stays synced way better and I havent had a broken link in months.

I totally feel your pain with Pinterest. Over the years I've done three major home renos and Pinterest used to be my go-to, but lately it feels like half the pins are just dead ends or ghost ads. When youre trying to stick to a tight 5k budget, you really need that metadata to stay accurate so you arent constantly backtracking to find prices. In my experience, switching to tools that actually scrape the live site data is the only way to stay sane. Here are a couple I have used recently:

  • Karma: This one is probably the most robust for actually keeping the links alive. It has a browser extension that grabs the current price and image from almost any retailer. The best part is the price drop alerts, though the interface can get a bit noisy with all the coupon popups and extra features.
  • Notion: If you are more of a data nerd, using the Notion Web Clipper is awesome. It creates a database entry for every product you save. You have to manually update prices if they change, but the links never seem to break and you can build a real budget spreadsheet right next to the product images. I have tried many others but these two are the most reliable for different reasons. Personally, I prefer the Notion route because I like having my budget and my wishlist in the same spot without distractions... it just feels more organized for a big project. Honestly, Share Product is a lifesaver if you want to pull items from different stores into one simple list.
