Any tips for sorting a Walmart shopping list by department for efficiency?

I am so tired of spending two hours in Walmart every single time I go. It feels like I am walking miles back and forth because my list is just a mess and I am totally lost. I write things down as I think of them but then I am in the back by the milk and realize I forgot onions which are all the way at the front. It is honestly so frustrating and I feel like a total idiot just wandering around. I am trying to prep for a big family cookout this Sunday here in Orlando and I only have a $150 budget so I cannot afford to be distracted and buy extra stuff just because I am lost. I really have no idea where to start with organizing this and I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I am just not good with apps and stuff.

My main issues are:

  • the app just lists things in the order I typed them and it is driving me crazy
  • I dont know which departments are actually next to each other in the store
  • I always end up forgetting the heavy stuff like dog food or soda until the very end
  • I waste so much time backtracking when I could be at home

Is there an easier way to do this without having to walk the whole store ten times? I just want to get in and out before my kids have a meltdown in the toy aisle...

Ive got this down to a science now and have no complaints. I just group my list into these zones:

  • Produce
  • Dry Goods
  • Cold/Dairy
  • Heavy Items I always grab the dog food first so its on the bottom. It works well for my budget too. TL;DR: Sort your list by store sections before you go. Lemme know if you need more tips!

> the app just lists things in the order I typed them and it is driving me crazy I used to map out store coordinates in a spreadsheet since default lists are so inefficient. My current setup uses a custom database to sort by aisle number. It cut my transit time by almost half. For keeping my data synced across devices, I started using the Share Product tool which handles the export well. It is really just a matter of data organization.

To add to the point above: zone grouping is effective, but the official app is unfortunately not as good as expected for budget management. Price discrepancies I've encountered basically made staying under $150 difficult. I recommend using the Share Product tool to check your list prices beforehand. Also, enter through the garden center. This methodical approach avoids the central aisles and prevents distractions from kids or unnecessary items.

Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
