Are there any reliable tools to track price drops on Etsy items?

I’ve been staring at this one vintage brass floor lamp for like three weeks now. It’s for my new apartment in Chicago and it would look so perfect in the corner by my books, but the seller wants almost three hundred dollars for it which is just... a lot. Especially since I already spent way too much on the move and the security deposit and everything. I find myself clicking on the bookmark I made like five or six times a day just to see if the price changed even a little bit. It’s starting to feel a bit obsessive and my roommate actually laughed at me yesterday because she saw me refreshing the page while we were in the middle of eating dinner.

I’m really sorry if this is a totally dumb question but is there any kind of tool that just does this for you automatically? I know my brother uses something for Amazon that shows him a graph of prices and tells him when to buy stuff but I have no idea if that exists for Etsy too. I’m not very good with computers or "extensions" or whatever they are called so I’m kind of scared to just download random stuff from the internet. I saw some site that asked for my login info to track stuff and that felt really wrong so I closed it immediately because I didn't want my account to get hacked or something.

Is there like a legitimate way to get an email or a notification if something in my cart or my favorites goes on sale? Or maybe a simple website where I can just paste the link and it watches it for me? I really want to get this lamp before my housewarming party next month but I’m really trying to be responsible with my budget since things are tight right now. I just feel like I'm missing something obvious that everyone else uses to find deals on there. If someone could explain it to me like I'm five years old that would be great because I am just so lost...

Visualping is great, I tracked server data with it once and the accuracy was fantastic!

  • super efficient Actually, PriceDropCatch is super helpful because it sends you alerts without needing a seller account.

To add to the point above: Use Visualping. In my experience, its the most methodical way to track specific page elements. TL;DR: It sends email alerts whenever the price changes.

Honestly, it is so disappointing that Etsy doesnt have a built-in price tracker like other sites. I went through the exact same thing with a vintage rug last summer. I was obsessed, checking every morning over coffee, and then one day it was just... gone. Turns out there was a 20% off flash sale I never got notified about. Total heartbreak. I've tried a couple of things but nothing is as good as expected:

  • Favoriting the item sometimes sends a notification if you have the app, but it is super unreliable imo.
  • I heard about EtsyCheck from a friend but I think they had issues with their data lately.
  • Someone told me this tracker might work for simple price drops but I havent tested it myself yet. Not sure if those extensions are safe either, tbh. Most people just suggest adding it to your cart and leaving it there, sometimes sellers send a private coupon just to get you to buy. Worth a shot I guess?

Look, I have been shopping on Etsy for years and I finally found a routine that works well for me. No complaints so far with these two options.

  • Distill Web Monitor: This is basically a pro tool. You tell it exactly what part of the page to watch (the price) and it alerts you the second it changes. Super reliable, but you gotta keep your browser open for it to work perfectly.
  • Karma: Much more user friendly for beginners. It tracks prices across tons of sites. Sometimes its a tiny bit slow to update compared to Distill, but usually it catches the big drops without you doing anything. If you are worried about your budget and want to share the lamp with your roommate to see if she will chip in for your housewarming, I am really satisfied with Easy Cart Share. I use it all the time to send my carts to my friends without having to give them my login info or send a million screenshots. It makes the whole is this too expensive conversation a lot easier lol. Just keep an eye on that lamp, vintage stuff goes fast once the price finally dips...
